February 2024
Black History Month
February is Black History Month.
GCPS celebrates #eachandevery individual as we cultivate a culture of belonging while leading with empathy, equity, and excellence to ensure that #TeamGCPS students, families and staff feel welcome, safe, accepted, valued, and prepared for the future. #GCPSBlueprint
Digital Learning Day
Friday, February 2, is a Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students. On scheduled DLDs, students access lessons in eCLASS but do not have virtual class time with their teachers.
To ensure that students have a nutritious breakfast and lunch to fuel their learning, our bus drivers will be on the road and at every bus stop to deliver meals prepared by School Nutrition Program staff.
Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 a.m. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route. These delivered meals are provided at no cost to families, and are provided to anyone 18 years old and under.
Lunch with Loved One
We are so excited to invite loved ones to have lunch with us February 6 - 8. Information regarding your student's specific day and time was included in their classroom newsletter on Friday, January 26. Also, a flyer with information was included in your student's Friday folder.
Each student will be able to have a maximum of three (3) guests. Names of all guests must be submitted prior to the day of your lunch. The deadline to sign up for the lunch will be the day before your designated day. If you have any problems with the link below, please email your student's teacher the names of the individuals that will be attending the lunch. All visitors should be prepared to show a picture ID.
If purchasing a lunch in the cafeteria, the cost is $4 (cash) payable the day of your lunch.
The spring book fair will be in full swing too! Plan to stop by the Media Center and shop with your student after lunch.
Please note:
- Due to safety protocols, visitors will not be allowed to walk their student to their classroom or join their class for recess. Visitors are asked to exit through the front doors when lunch is completed. If shopping at the book fair, please exit the building as soon as you are done.
- Due to the anticipated volume of visitors this week, we are requesting that only those signed up for this special week come to the school for lunch. We will welcome all lunchroom visitors again the week of February 12.

PMES Student Council Initiatives
Random Acts of Kindness - PMES Student Council is sponsoring Random Acts of Kindness Week February 12-14. We are encouraging our fellow students to show kindness to those around them each day. Students will receive kindness bookmarks or coloring pages. We will have our "kindness pins" around the school for students to clip on a friend's backpack. We want to spread kindness and positivity throughout our amazing school!
Morning Greeters - Puckett's Mill is such a great place to be! PMES Student Council want each and every student to know just how special we think they are.
