Important Information for You!
What a wonderful second week we had! I am so looking forward to continuing to see what this year brings. Keep up the hard work, dedication, and team work that have made the first two weeks so smooth. Go Team Thomson!
Evaluation Follow-up/Training
I have gotten several of our 5D+ Self Assessments already. If you plan to attend the Growth Plan training PD on Wednesday, September 7th from 7:15-8:15 a.m. or from 3:45-4:45 p.m. you will need to have your Self Assessment completed. Please remember if you rate yourself above 'Basic' on an indicator, please provide a brief example of what you do in your classroom or why you believe that you are at the 'Proficient' or 'Distinguished' level. If you have any questions, please let me know.
'Your Child's Year" Curriculum, Routines, and Schedules
As you all know, this Thursday will be a night for parents to come to your rooms to learn about Kindergarten and Early 5's curriculum, your classroom routines, schedules, and get their questions answered. This year we will be holding two sessions with classroom teachers, 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Melissa Baracco will hold sessions every 30 minutes in library on Title I beginning at 5:00 p.m. Specials Staff should be available in their rooms to answer parent questions. All certified staff should be in the building from 4:45-6:45 p.m. Please be sure to share your PowerPoint (if you are using one) with me. We will be closely monitoring attendance, so please be sure each parent signs in when they visit your classroom or session.
Professional Development Summaries
PD Summaries for the 2015-16 school year will be in your mailboxes. Please look them over carefully. If there are is a discrepancy, please contact Sharon Hazard by September 7th. Pay for 2015-16 PD will take place in the next pay period.
Positive Parent Contacts
Thank you to those of you who have completed your positive parent phone calls already. I sincerely appreciate you making this a priority. This is an extremely meaningful act for parents and it helps to set the stage for continued parent communication in the future. I have heard from three parents already who have shared how wonderful it was to hear from their child's teacher and that it made them as parents feel more comfortable. As you finish making these, please let me know. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
Red Folders & Turning in Papers
Please make sure that you are visually checking the student red folders everyday! If you have any papers turned into you, please alphabetize by type and turn into the office as soon as possible on each day.
