BSS Weekly Update
November 11th thru November 15th
From the Desk of the Principal
Thank you to all who came together to make our Box of Joy initiative a resounding success! It was wonderful to see the generosity of the entire BSS community as we worked to ensure all children across the globe have a great Christmas. A special shout out to Nancy Carroll, Steph Viano, and our 8th and 4th grades who really stepped up to get this service initiative completed.
Another thank you to all who came out to Jalapeños last night to support our school. Please keep looking for different Dine Around fundraisers coming in the future. A special thank you to the Parent Collaborative for their work on this.
Finally, I just want to say thank you to all of the veterans in our community. Your service is the reason we are able to partake in the blessings we enjoy every day here at BSS and beyond. Thank you for your service!
Have a great weekend everyone, i'm looking forward to another fun Trivia Night on Saturday. Hopefully the teachers take home the trophy this year!
Blessings,
Dustin
Notes from Nancy
This afternoon we had our packing party for for our Box of Joy initiative. The cafe was filled with gifts, students, alumni, and teachers.
We actually exceeded our goal and packed 111 boxes! Through the generous spirit of our families we were able to cover the shipping costs for these gifts of joy. This year, children from Haiti, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic will be blessed with a Box of Joy.
A sincere thank you to everyone for being disciples of service and bringing God’s love to those less fortunate.
These past two weeks have also been filled with Parent/Teacher conferences. Our teachers conferred with approximately 295 parents to discuss the progress of the children in their classes. We all appreciate the time and care that our staff puts into making parent/teacher conferences a meaningful time of individualized communication.
Have a great weekend!
Nancy
From The Desk of Melissa Dugas - Advancement
Thank you to all the families who participated in our fall family photo shoot last weekend. It was a beautiful day for photos and I hope everyone is happy with how they turned out. Thank you to Shivani Cotter Photography for sharing her talent with us and helping us raise money for our school!
November kicks of the St. Francis Annual Fund campaign. Letters were sent home with students this week so please be on the lookout for them. The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of BSS's fundraising efforts and gifts to the fund support current needs that can not be funded by tuition or fees. Our goal this year is $55,000 and we hope you will help us reach that goal by making a gift to the annual fund. For more information on the St. Francis Annual Fund, please click HERE.

Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family. In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today and for life.

Parent Collaborative Monthly Meeting. The Parent Collaborative is hosting its monthly meeting next Friday, 11/15/2019 after morning assembly in the cafeteria. Join us for a cup of coffee and learn more about upcoming enrichment events this holiday season. In addition, John Trendel from the Parish Finance Committee will present a financial update to the community.
Santa’s Workshop Elves & Photographer Needed. There are several volunteer opportunities at upcoming Parent Collaborative events this fall. Santa’s Workshop (taking place this year on 12/04/19) is recruiting volunteers to help set up tables and gifts for students to purchase, to staff the workshop itself, and to clean up after the workshop is over. This is a fun way to earn service hours and get into the holiday spirit! Parents interested in signing up to volunteer can use this registration form.
Santa’s Workshop also needs a photographer to take pictures of the children’s visits with Santa during the workshop on 12/4/19 from 8a-2p, to print the photos and to help coordinate delivery of the photos to classrooms in the week following the workshop. A camera and tripod can be provided. This unique volunteer position will fulfill all tiers of the entire BSS Service Hour commitment for the year!
Fundraiser: The Blessed Sacrament Parent Collaborative is pleased to announce that the Ever So Humble Pie Company of Walpole is hosting a holiday pie fundraiser for our school. Enjoy delicious pies from Ever So Humble, and provide funds for the Blessed Sacrament School community by placing a special order for holiday dinners. A portion of all sales received through this fundraiser from November 8 - December 2, 2019 will be donated back to Blessed Sacrament School. Pies can be picked up at the Ever So Humble Pie shop in Walpole from December 16 - 20, 2019. More details are on this flyer, and the pie order form can be downloaded here. Spread the word to family and friends!
