Where are you originally from?
England
What led you to want to be in education? How long have you been in education?
I have always wanted to work with children and played school as a child with all my dolls and stuffed toys! I taught for 3 years in England before moving to Texas. I returned to working in schools when my last child entered kindergarten.
Tell us about your family.
I have 4 children: one son, twin daughters and one more daughter. They all attended Lago Vista schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. My son is Director of student life at Tarleton State University. My twin daughters are stay at home moms, but one works part time teaching and the other works part time as a pediatric physical therapist. My youngest daughter is the program manager for the health center at Dell. I have 3 active grandsons who keep me busy and a fourth grandbaby on the way!
What are your favorite hobbies?
My favorite hobbies are gardening, reading, walking, spending time with family and friends and playing with my three grandsons.
Who is your favorite office aide?
I couldn't pick one - all my office aides are wonderful this year!
How long have you been at LVMS?
I started working here full time in 2002 - so this is my 16th year.
When did you move to the United States and why?
I visited the USA during college and toured the New England States playing field hockey. I enjoyed the experience so much that I returned to New Hampshire for two summers to work in summer camp. In 1979 I had the opportunity to live in Texas and work for my brother's company. Unfortunately the job fell through and so I decided to study for my Masters degree at Sam Houston State University and teach as a graduate assistant. The rest is history - I married, had children and made my home in Texas.
What do you miss the most about England?
The seasons and the flowers, English history and the castles, the pubs and of course the food.
