Since 2013, we have held an annual picture book smackdown in honor of National Picture Book Month. This special event brings together author and student voices to share favorite picture books with the world. No matter what our age, picture books matter in our world, and we want to use this event to show a few that are special to us.

2016 Picture Book Smackdown

Wednesday, Nov. 30th, 1:30-2:30pm

This is an online event.

Join us as we share as many favorite picture books as possible in 1 hour. You'll hear the voices from the following people and locations:



  • Dianne de Las Casas, author and founder of Picture Book Month
  • Andy Plemmons & students from David C. Barrow Elementary, Athens GA
  • Cathy Potter & students from Falmouth Elementary, Falmouth ME
  • Julee Murphy & students from Early Childhood Development Center, Corpus Christi, TX
  • Donna MacDonald & students from Orchard School, South Burlington, VT
