Dear Northville Parents and Students,
We hope this message finds you and your families healthy. We miss all of you and look forward to working with you in person. Until that time, please carefully read the following information. There is something for everyone and we hope you find it helpful.
How to Read This Newsletter
This special edition of the NHS Counseling Newsletter is divided by the following:

Social and Emotional Health Resources
Counselor Availability:
Counselors continue to be available via email, and we are here to answer questions and assistance in any way we can.
If you have non-personal questions for your counselor, feel free to join the Google Meet student drop in hours each week. As always, you can also contact counselors directly, via email, and request personal conferencing, if necessary.
Ms. Sadikot’s students should be getting emails inviting them from all counselors:

Class Updates
Shoutout to our Seniors!
Graduation:
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the district is working on developing plans and clarification around what seniors need to complete in order to meet district and state graduation requirements. Many of these decisions are still TBD. Please keep an eye on all district communications and Mr. Koski’s Mustang Trail for updates.
Class of 2020 - FAQ's
Do my 2nd semester classes even matter?
Yes! Colleges will still want your final transcripts and will notice big changes in GPA. College will be understanding about the COVID-19 impact on grades, however, and will have acknowledged that many schools may be going to pass/fail grades.
What if I need to make up Seminar credit?:
Community Service hours are waived for any SENIOR who was assigned these due to not completing seminar requirements.
How will final grades be calculated? TBD
I’m worried that I might be short on credits or missing a graduation requirement. What should I do?
Contact your counselor ASAP. If you are a student of Ms. Sadikot’s, please contact Ms. Peterson or Ms. Schneider
Do I still need to order my final transcript?
Yes.
Will the graduation ceremony be canceled or postponed? - TBD
What will happen with Honors Convocation and Local Scholarships? - TBD

Having trouble deciding between award letters from different colleges? Try some of the award letter comparison tools on the web. But be careful - they are not all the same. Here are some non-profit comparison options:

A number of colleges and universities are offering virtual tours. As you start to create your list of potential colleges to apply to, consider visiting that college’s website to see if they offer virtual tours or Q and A sessions with admissions representatives.

Administrators and counselors will be reaching out to any students who are missing courses in the next few weeks, so keep an eye on your email. If you have any questions or concerns regarding registration, please email your counselor.

Test Out: Dates and times of test out are still TBD. Please watch for updates in the district communications, on the NHS Testing Out website, and Mr. Koski’s Mustang Trail.

Already thinking about college?
These next few months would be a great time to get familiar with college websites and take advantage of the virtual tours and advising options that many colleges and universities are offering right now. This will allow you to explore your options at a more leisurely pace and help you get a better idea for how you want to plan your last couple years of high school. Narrowing down the list of places you want to apply to now will only help take some of the pressure off later.
