Erika has been serving North Carolina in the field of education for 18 years. She has taught Grades 1st , 2nd , 4th and 5th grade. Lynn has 25 years experience in public education. She is a proud alumni of Mars Hill University, Western Carolina University and holds licensure in Supervision and Administration, Learning Disablities K-12, Birth-K, Behavior Emotionally Handicapped, and Reading Specialist. Currently, Lynn serves as the West Region MTSS Consultant within Integrated Academic and Behavior Systems as well as Communication and Visibility lead. This work allows Lynn to support all districts and charters with sustainable installation of an MTSS with the ultimate goal of success for all students. Lynn and her husband Greg, have two sons, a daughter-in-law and are anxiously awaiting the birth of their first grandchild.

Ann Callicutt Regional CTE Coordinator (Southwest)
Ann has 22 years of experience in education with a background in both high school and middle school Business Education and Instructional Management Coordinator and Director of CTE. Bachelors in Business Administration with teaching certification from Meredith College; Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology at NC A & T University and a MSA from UNC Greensboro. Ann currently serves as the CTE Coordinator for the Southwest Regions where she works to provide leadership, coordination, support and services to state and federally-funded CTE programs. Her responsibilities include program of study implementation, local planning and performance management processes, technical assistance on CTE issues, monitoring for compliance, coordinating with Raleigh-based CTE Division staff, facilitating and/or providing professional development and support of CTE personnel and CTE teachers.

Terry has 32 years of education experience, with a background of teaching middle grades Language Arts. Taught Grades 6, 7, 8 Language Arts, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. James has been an educator for over 24 years. He has earned his doctorate at North Carolina State University, a master’s degree in school administration and bachelor’s degree in middle grades education with a major in math and minor in English both from Fayetteville State University. He has successfully worked in both high poverty and affluent school districts and has earned a reputation as a “Transformation Leader.” James is a District Transformation Coach with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for North Carolina Schools and a Teaching Assistant with North Carolina State University. Amy has 24 years of experience in public education. Taught middle and high school mathematics; Instructional Coach. Karol has been in the field of education since 1989, with a background of teaching in elementary education. Currently, Karol provides support in the Southwest Region with an emphasis on beginning teachers. Karol also coordinates and facilitates Beginning Teacher Support Plan (BTSP) monitoring visits for the region as well as Principal and Teacher of the Year. Judy has more than 33 years of experience in education. Early Childhood Education (UNCP), Masters of Elementary Education (UNCC), Masters of Administration Curriculum and Supervision (NCU/ECU), dual doctorate (NCU). Taught elementary, middle and high school levels, severed as a new teacher mentor, supervising teacher for student teachers, school level literacy coach, and multi-age coordinator; K-8 Literacy Coach, a district’s DIBELS /Reading 3D Coordinator, and Elementary Reading Specialist. Judy is also a state Reading 3D Master trainer and NC SIP Reading Foundation trainer. In her current role, she provides PD for central office, administrators, teachers and support staff on the new Read to Achieve legislation, Reading 3D, data analysis and instructional planning, evidence/research based best practices, literacy coaching and how to effectively acceleration academic growth for students.

Lucy Heffelfinger, MSN Regional School Health Nurse Consultant
Lucy has been a nurse for over 30 years (hospital/acute care nursing, Public Health, and school health). She has served as a school nurse in the elementary, middle and high school and early college high school settings as well supervised a team of school nurses. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from UNC Chapel Hill and a Master’s Degree in Nursing with an emphasis in Nursing Education from East Carolina University. Lucy is nationally certified as a school nurse by the National Board for Certification for School Nurses. She has been a Regional School Health Nurse Consultant since 2008 with the focus of that work being to provide leadership, training and consultation services to school nurses and school staff to promote the health and learning of children and youth. Lucy enjoys the outdoors and living in Catawba County places her close to the mountains and many favorite activities.

Kristin L. Wike School Health Nurse Consultant, Department of Health and Human Services
Kristin is a nationally certified school nurse with 10 years of experience which included directing services for students in Western NC. Prior to school nursing she developed a strong sense of leadership while serving 8 years in the United States Marines Corps. She received her BSN and MSN in Nursing Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and achieved the Bronze Medal for Executive Leadership. She currently serves as a regional nurse consultant for school health providing technical assistance and guidance for local health departments, hospitals, and school systems in the west region. Kristin enjoys running and creating memories with her family.

Chuck has 47+ years of educational experience in St. Louis, Missouri, New Hampshire and North Carolina. BA in History from Southeast Missouri State University; Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, University of Missouri – St. Louis. His experience includes 20 years in private education at a K-8 school and Social Studies, Latin and Physical Education teacher; athletic director, Director of Secondary Education, High School Transformation Coach, Central Office Administrator, Assistant Principal and HS Principal. The three goals of his current work includes providing support and coaching for district and building leadership to improve student achievement, building the capacity of district and building leadership, and creating ways to sustain the improvements that have occurred over the past three plus years.

Ric served as a North Carolina public school educator for over 38 years. He taught HS English, Coach, middle school assistant principal, an elementary school principal, Director of Instruction, Assistant Superintendent for C&I, Superintendent. BS in English, MA in Public School Administration from Appalachian State University; Ed. D. from Columbia University.
Ric currently serves as Director of the Southwest Education Alliance, a consortium of eleven school districts in southwest NC. He is a Certified Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church and is his church’s Lay Leader. He is a Rotarian, serves on the local Red Cross Board, and is a Vietnam veteran. Ric and his wife, Angela, have 4 children and eleven grandchildren.

Chris Vecchione SIG Director, Priority & Focus Schools Co-Coordinator
Chris is a 20-year educator and North Carolina Principal Fellow with 17 years in administration at the elementary, high school, district, and state office levels. He spent 12 of those years as a principal leading schools, the last 9 as a high school principal. Until recently he was serving dual roles as a School Improvement Grant (SIG) Coordinator and Federal Turnaround Principal of Henderson Independent High School. He now coordinates School Improvement Grant & Priority School funding and efforts for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in Raleigh. When time permits he consults with State and District Educational Agencies in the areas of School Turnaround & Improvement, regularly presenting at district, state, and national conferences. His educational passions have been “School Turnaround”: increasing Advanced Placement enrollment & offerings, reducing suspensions and the drop-out rate, increasing proficiency scores and the graduation rate, and perhaps most importantly…shifting the governing climate of schools from “rules” to “relationships”. He has been a building level principal in Guilford, Randolph, and Rowan-Salisbury School Systems (all in North Carolina).
