Ground Breaking Ceremony
Lake Whitney Public Library is proud to announce the ground breaking of the new library at 602 E. Jefferson across from the post office. We invite the public to attend the ground breaking ceremony on October 4th around 2:oo PM. Please come by and take part in the first step to the next level of library and community services.
The Lake Whitney Public Library is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving the entertainment and informational needs of Whitney and the surrounding area. Including loaning of materials such as best sellers, VHS, DVDs, and audio books, the library offers free internet and Wi-Fi, technology training and assistance, children’s programming, video game play area, and more. Last year the library served around 20,000 visitors.
No more crowded spaces!
The new building will be over 6000 square feet and will contain many new features that are needed within the community. There will be a computer lab with spaces for laptops and mobile devices, as well as our existing computer stations connected to a printer and fax machine; a meeting room that will be a much needed space for summer reading and story time, and will be available for use to nonprofit organizations in the area; separated children’s and teen sections; and a dedicated area for the always popular Friends of the Library Book Sale. The building has been paid for through anonymous donation and its construction will be at no cost to tax payers.
