K-6 Student of the Week

Mrs. Wallace has selected 6th grader Drake Littlejohn as the Newberry Elementary Student of the Week. He is the son of Kaleena Danielson and Douglas Littlejohn Jr.

Drake has shown tremendous academic growth this year in several areas. He continuously works hard to understand new concepts and perseveres through challenges. A leader among his peers, Drake can be counted on to be an encouragement to others and have fun too. Congratulations Drake!

Welcome Mr. Wilson - K-12 Music Teacher

Mr. Ryan Wilson, the new K-12 music teacher will be starting this Wednesday, January 18, 2023. He will be working with the subs in each class to make the transition smooth. Mr. Wilson is a graduate of NMU and enjoys the Upper Peninsula. He is very excited to get started teaching and meeting students.

NEW BUSES

We have four new buses that have arrived. The buses arrived before Christmas break, but radios and cameras needed to be installed. We purchased 2 regular buses and 2 special education buses. Federal ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funds were used to purchase the two regular buses and general fund monies were used for the two special education buses. General funds were used as we will get 70% back from the ISD. The EUPISD covers special education busing for the whole EUPISD region. Districts then apply for 70% reimbursement.

The new buses should be on the road this week.
