Dear Families,
As we come to the end of this unique and challenging year, I'd like to take a few moments to say thank you.
Thank you to all staff for your commitment to our students and supporting their academic and social-emotional needs while finding creative ways to engage them both online or in-person. This work could not have been done without you.
I also would like to thank our students and families. The pandemic has stressed all of us in every aspect of our daily lives. Both our students and families faced it with courage and resilience. I am grateful for your grace and patience that you gave us along the way.
Together, we have responded to the best of our ability and in the best interest of our students. For that, I am beyond grateful.
Take care and be well. I hope you have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Ms. Elise Catanese
Principal

8th Grade Parade Celebration & Device/Materials Collection
Today from 4 PM - 6 PM we will be hosting a reverse parade at West Orient for families to drive through and celebrate students’ accomplishments and achievements. All students and families are invited to attend this drive through celebration of students’ middle school experience and promotion to high school. See specific details below!
At the end of the parade route, there will be collection stations for student door badges, library materials and technology - including Chromebooks, chargers, and hotspots. Students should plan to bring these items with them so they can be turned in all at the same event.
If a student or family is not able to attend this event, students can return materials and pick up their certificate and gift bag by contacting the office and making separate arrangements.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at this special event!
6th and 7th Grade Materials Return
The 6th and 7th grade materials return event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16th from 2 PM - 6 PM and on June 17th from Noon - 4 PM. Students will need to return their Student ID badge and any books that have been checked out to them. If the student has checked out a wifi hotspot, that will also need to be returned at this time.
Drop-offs for 6th and 7th grade will be in front of the building. Just pull through the drop-off lane and leave your books, badge, and wifi hotspot (if one was checked out) with the staff member on duty.
6th and 7th graders will keep their assigned Chromebook over the summer and will bring it back to school in the fall.
Students in Hybrid learning cohorts may drop-off their badge as they leave the school on the last day of school for their cohort. If all of their books have been returned, there will be no need for these students to return any materials during these scheduled drop-off hours.
Library Books & Curriculum Materials Return
Please check your email for library notices sent May 17th and do your best to find and return any items listed by the end of this school year. Hybrid students may return any GBSD book to the book drop box in their ELA classroom. eGBSD students should return materials during the Drop-off event this Wednesday or Thursday. If you are not able to bring materials back at those times you may schedule a time through the office. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Strobel at strobel6@gresham.k12.or.us or call the school and request to speak with her.
