Meet the Teacher this Wednesday September 12th @ 6 pm

HOT Dogs, veggies, and sparkling water will be served!

Meet in the Gym for a 15 min presentation and then enjoy meeting your child's teacher.

Spirit Wear Clothing will be available to try on for size. Order forms will be sent home this week. All purchases to be made through the parent portal in PowerSchool ONLY ... NO cash or Cheques. DEADLINE to order September 23rd at midnight.

Very Important --> Students with Medical Needs

Parents, please note the following if your child has medical needs.

Just a reminder that our Medical Forms are now online under your Parent Portal. Please complete and submit a form for each of your children that have a medical condition or require medical treatment and provide the school with the medication/EPI-PEN. Make sure you are on the correct student tab, click on SchoolEngage Student Forms, then choose "Medical Status Update/Request For Medical Treatment" Form to create a new form or edit existing ones.

Please note: The EICS Administrative Procedure 316 requires the above information and that all students in Kindergarten to grade 4 wear their EpiPen on their person while at school. EPI-PEN holders may be purchased through your pharmacy.

If your child's medical condition is no longer applicable, please notify the school office.

Beautiful Hands

What will your beautiful hands do this year? Is the question all students will be asked this year. This is the school's theme. All classes are creating a piece of a mural that will be displayed outside the library.

Terry Fox Run is JUNE 14th @ 2-3 pm

On Friday, September 14th from 2:00-3:00 pm, Madonna Catholic School will be participating in the Terry Fox Run. We ask that all students come dressed for the weather in red and white, bring a water bottle and $2.00 each to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. All students will run or walk in the afternoon to help keep Terry’s dream alive. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to participate as well, please meet us in the MPR at 2:00 pm to begin. Together we can work to find a cure for cancer.

Violin Instruction Attention Parents of Gr.3 & Gr. 4 Students

Violin Instruction will be offered on Wednesday's at Lunch

for Gr 3 and Gr. 4 Students combined.

Starting in October

The maximum number of students is 15.

Information on how to rent instruments will be available at meet the teacher night.

Parent Meeting

Madonna Parents meet approximately 8 times a year for one hour. All parents are invited to be a part of this meeting. It is a great way to meet other parents and be apart of the Madonna Community. Parents do make a difference!!

First Meeting Thursday, September 27th at 6:30 pm in the Library

Grade 1 Parents Start School Smiling Campaign

Start School Smiling is designed to promote dental health to all Grade One students. Alberta Dental Association & Colleges member dentists will provide a free examination, with bitewing x-rays if needed, from September 15 to October 31, 2018. Click on the link for more information.

Madonna School Safety plan: Visiting the School Protocol

We are committed to ensuring a safe school for your children. Parents and visitors we ask you to please drop your child off at the designated areas.

  • When driving please follow all parking and drop off zone rules as per parking and drop off handout.

  • The front door of the school is open at 8:00 am. Your child must wait inside the at the front entrance if you are dropping off before the 8:30 bell. At 8:30 am these students go outside to play.

  • Supervision outside starts at 8:30 am

  • The bell goes at 8:40 am. All students line up and come into the school

  • 8:45 am Attendance is taken and class starts.

Kindergarten families please drop off and pick up your child at the Front Entrance of the school. Please do not walk your children to class, we are working with your children on independence and class routines.

Grade 1 to Grade 4 families please wait for your children at the Front Entrance or outside the various boot room doors. Please do not enter the hallways to pick up your child in the hallway at their locker or inside boot rooms.

Pre Kindergarten families please drop off and pick up your child at the Pre K entrance

Brighter Beginnings families please walk your child directly to the classroom and pick them up from the classroom.

If you need to speak to the child’s teacher or another staff member,

please sign in at the office and pick up a visitor badge before walking the halls of the school.

We ask if you are volunteering or coming into the school for ANY reason, please sign in and pick up a visitor badge. We will drop off to your child’s locker any items that you are bringing in for your child. Our responsibility in the office is knowing who is in the building at all times.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance with ensuring that Madonna is a safe place. Checking in helps us reduce interruptions to instructional time and prevents unauthorized people from speaking with students.
