Background on The Age of Exploration

The age of exploration began in the early 15th century. The exploration was a result of peoples desire for wealth, power and spreading christianity. This began in Europe and moved to other parts of the world.

Art background

The age of exploration and the renaissance time periods overlap some what and have some of the same artists and development. Like the in the renaissance art began to look more realistic and people started painting realistic looking people and landscapes.

Artists of the Age of Exploration

Artists such as Albrecht Dürer and Leonardo da Vinci were artists of the time period who were influenced by new art practices. They implemented things like liner perspective into their art. Some famous art works of Albrecht Dürer was a writer and did book illustrations. He wrote five books but only one of his books were published in his lifetime. Leonardo da Vinci is famous for many different art works like the Mona Lisa.
