CVS community elects new board of education members

Congratulations to the following school board candidates. We are pleased to welcome the following individuals to the CVS board of education.

Four-Year Partial Term – Begins November 14
Kenneth Pearl will be returning to finish out the partial term that was previously held by Dr. Jolene Andriaschko. Ken is a long-time Chippewa Valley supporter, a former CVS parent, treasurer of the Chippewa Valley Schools Educational Foundation (CVEF) and previously served as a CVS school board member for more than eight years. He has served as a Clinton Township Trustee and has been appointed to numerous local committees and boards. He serves on the Clinton Township Inclusive Playground Committee.

Six-Year Terms – Begin on January 1
Bruce Wade is a district parent and retired police chief. He spent his 37 ½ year career focused on safety and security and protecting the residents of Clinton Township. He had a part-time career in law enforcement education as an adjunct professor and program director serving local colleges and universities. In addition, he was an instructor for the Oakland Police Academy and is a graduate of the National FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Shannon King is a district parent and a human resource professional that specializes in talent acquisition. He is a local entrepreneur. He believes that every child should feel safe at school and have an equal opportunity for a great education. He would like to see everyone focused on the students and working together to teach them about our world to make a better future.

Chris Gura is the president of the Chippewa Valley Educational Foundation (CVEF), an attorney, and former CVS parent who is an active supporter of fine arts in the district. As President of the CVEF, he has worked to bring classroom grants to our teachers and college scholarships to our students. He and his wife graduated from Chippewa Valley High School in 1989 and their three children graduated from Dakota High School.

Wade, King, and Gura, will replace Frank Bednard, Beth Pyden, and Jill DeMuynck- Zech who will step away from their posts in January. We appreciate their leadership and everything they have done during their many years of service to our school community.
