Pee Dee Elementary
Updates from the Principal
February 3, 2021
Parents,
Good evening! We are beyond excited to get all of our children back to school! To celebrate, Monday will be a school spirit day so we wear our colors! Back and yellow is back in style!
Report cards will be emailed to parents today. Please be looking for them.
Please begin getting your children back in a regular sleep schedule starting today. They will be tired. They have not been in school all week since March. That is hard to believe! Traffic will also be heavier so be sure to get here early enough to get students dropped off and inside in time to eat breakfast and unpack before 7:30. 7:10 or 7:15 is ideal. If you are pulling up at 7:25 it is too late for your child to have a calm start to their day. Instruction begins at 7:30. Please be ready to drop off in the morning when you pull up anywhere along the sidewalk. It helps if your children are ready to go with mask on, back pack on and door unlocked. Give us a few days to get our routine back in place in the afternoon for car riders. It will take longer than it has. We've gotten a little spoiled because of fewer kids, but in the past years we were able to finish car rider by 3:00. Our goal is closer to 2:50, but we will work on it.
We are not able to offer BBKK for the remainder of this year as we do not have the staff to do so. We also need to continue avoiding situations where students from different classes are mixing so we can minimize exposure and possible quarantine. Visit this page for possible solutions if you do not have options for childcare. Our guidance staff will also help talk you through some potential solutions if needed.
Thank you for all you have done to support our learners and be co-teachers at home. It has been a very long and challenging year. You will see less technology at home, but we really need you to help us by reading with your children and ensuring they are spending time on their homework. We are going to have to work hard to make up lost ground. Your child's teacher will communicate specifics with you. One last thought is that good attendance is vitally important. We will continue to work through distance learning for students who are quarantined.
Please visit our school web page to check out the Counselor's Corner and our Title I opportunities for families like the Technology and Anti-Bullying presentation for you to work through with your children.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email or call. The school number is 843-397-2579. We will work with you anyway we can to help you and your child through this unusual and unexpected school year.
Blessings and Good Health,
Chris Plowman, principal
