Next Year SPLS Team:
Once a month I will keep students in the gym for an assembly the first hour of the day, so that vertical teams can meet. We will have GLTM's twice a month and a staff meeting once a month. This structure will allow for grade level team time, vertical time, and a time once a month when we are all together as a staff. Because I get feedback from ALL staff regarding most building issues, we will not need a "leadership team" next year. Most issues discussed during these meetings can be discussed in grade level team meeting time with all staff so that all staff have input on decisions that lend themselves to a staff consensus.
Just like in years past, we will have an SPLS Team that will meet with Nicole Holt and her PL team this Spring but will continue meeting monthly throughout the school year to help plan and lead vertical team meetings. We will also spend time this summer planning and getting input from staff regarding professional learning and instructional needs/resources at Sherwood.
We have MANY leaders at Sherwood and ALL staff have something to offer this team, however I can only take 5 teachers to the SPLS day. This number is not determined by me but by Dr. Holt and her team. In order to help determine who will serve on this team I have created an application to be completed. The application will be scored using a rubric, in order to have a fair, consistent way to select members for this team. If you are passionate about professional learning and leadership, I would encourage you to apply. Please complete the application by next Wednesday, March 27th as this team will need to meet the following week to prepare for our SPLS day. You can access the application below! I will share your SPLS team for next year in next week's Memo and also share who will serve on each "SHINE" (S=Specialty Support, H=Happy Readers, I=Integrated Writing, N=Numeracy, E=Emotional Learning-these names can be negotiated by each team :) team next year. Thank you to those who added their selection to the from I sent out last week! I'm excited about this structure and appreciate the work that your current leadership team did to help create a structure of collaboration, that will move kids and encourage growth from one another!
