Lester Park School Newsletter - #5

September 16, 2021

Hello Lester Park Families!

Thank you for all of your patience as the district continues to work on assigning and correcting bus stop information. There were so many due to the # of students on distant learning last year, plus route changes due to limited bus drivers. There are still a half dozen students that we are waiting on bus changes.

We hope your children are all loving their first couple weeks of school! We sure love having them all here!

Homework Requests

If your child is going to be absent due to illness or vacation, you may email the teacher for homework. Please allow 48 hours for the homework to be gathered. Homework can be picked up in the front entrance on the table next to the cafeteria door.

Important Information for After-School Pick Up

Yesterday toward the end of the day, we had 8 empty spots in front of the school and the entrance to our driveway was blocked by a van waiting for their child. Please pull all the way forward using all of the space along the front of our building. Not doing so causes problems like yesterday, and slows the traffic down considerably, both in our driveway as well as on Glenwood Street and 52nd Ave.

If you see an open spot in front of the school, please feel free to pull out of line and use it. Utilizing all the space along the sidewalk in front of school will help speed up the pick up and drop off process. Thank you for understanding.

Illness and Absence Information

What do I do if my child is going to be absent from school?

  • Call attendance line 336-8875 then “3” to leave a recorded message

  • Or email lesterattendance@isd709.org (the office & nurse will both see these emails)

  • Please list any specific symptoms, especially with COVID still making its rounds and during times of increased influenza.

  • Teachers may have a preferred way for you to report an absence to them.

  • If we do not hear why a student is absent, an automated phone call and an email message will be sent out at sometime around 8:30. This is for safety reasons.
