This year the PCSD Foundation is expanding its Teacher Mini Grant program. Any employee of Provo City School District can now apply for a grant and the grants are not limited to $500. The PCSD theme for this school year is “Find Your Swing” – based on the book “The Boys In The Boat” by Daniel James Brown. Superintendent Wendy Dau has announced a contest for students to design a pin representing this theme. Your student's design could become this pin! USBE is seeking educators to create supplemental standards for the following ELA courses: Mythology, Basic Writing, and Basic Reading. Educators serving on a writing committee will meet after school hours on a biweekly basis from October to through beginning of December 2023 (or when the standards draft is completed) and will be compensated for their time. If you’re interested in assisting with this work, please complete the registration form.

Earlier this year a bill passed officially designating September as “American Founders and Constitution Month” with September 17 as “Constitution Day” in the State of Utah! While all state residents are encouraged to learn more about the Consitution this month, schools are specifically encouraged to observe by reading directly from the United States Constitution and other primary sources, and to teach the governing principles found in the United States Constitution. The 95 Percent Multisyllable Routine is an easy to use routine to help teachers provide direct, explicit instruction on the six syllable types students encounter when reading larger words! The program comes with classroom-ready multisyllable decoding lessons, visuals, and manipulatives to help students make quick work of reading big words!
