Important Information for You!
End of 3rd Marking Period & Report Cards
After missing so many school days due to snow the end of the 3rd marking period has been moved from this Thursday, March 21st, to Thursday, April 18th. This will allow for time in the third marking period to actually work with students as well as even out the third and fourth marking periods. Report cards for the third marking period report cards are expected to be completed by 4 pm on Wednesday, April 24th. Report cards will be generated and printed on Thursday, April 25th for review. Cards will then go home with students on Friday, April 26th. Remember, our Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, April 10th from 4-7 p.m.
Legislative Updates & Make-up Days
Friday, March 22nd marks the second of three make-up days for Davison students. Hopefully we will know soon if we need to make up the third day. Just waiting on Lansing... As you are aware, this Thursday will be a 1/2 day for students and our teacher PD (Agenda: School Improvement Planning) will take place from Noon-3 p.m. with a working lunch.
Teacher/Administrator Evaluations— Reminder, at this time, legislation has not changed in regards to the percentage of student growth placed on evaluations. It remains 40% of a teacher and administrators overall effectiveness rating. I know that while looking at our building data from mid-year many were 'taken back', but I am confident that if we stay the course and are intentional in our planning and teaching, our students will demonstrate the growth that we are all working towards.
Cardinal Code Focus for the Week: All Common Areas
This week's Cardinal Code Lesson Focus for the week is Common Areas. It is important to review general behavior during this week. How do we act and treat our school as a whole? A community circle topic for this week might be, what is something you think would make this school better and what can we do to fix it?
As Anna shared, we are currently creating our list for the volunteer dinner. We have many parents and community members that support our students (and staff) throughout the year. At this time, we do not have many on the spreadsheet that Anna asked you to fill out. Please take a minute to think about those parents that have volunteered their time in your classroom or donating items and include them on the list. Thank you for you thoughtfulness with this!
Did you know there was a...New Online CPS Reporting System
An online reporting website is now available for registration and use by all mandated reporters who are reporting suspected child abuse and neglect. The website is available at all hours, every day. When filing online, reporters have no obligation to file an additional written report (DHHS-3200) or to call the hotline. The hotline remains open for oral reports, especially emergencies. Online reporting is simply a second option. To register for the Michigan Online Reporting System, go to www.michigan.gov/ mibridges and click the Partnership link at the top of the page.
Quotes Worth Reading
Instead of a quote this week, I wanted to pose a couple of questions that another Davison principal share with her staff. It is easy for us to talk about developing a love of reading with our students, but are we intentional about the ways we do it. Below are a couple of questions that I hope you will take a couple of minutes to think about or discuss during your PLC time.
What do you do each day to show your students you like to read?
How would you describe the environment of your classroom? Does it foster a love of reading?
