There are many differing beliefs withing the Hindu Religion
In the Hindu Religion the concept of Samsara is associated with life and death and the act of rebirth. In order for a Hindu to achieve their ultimate goal and become free from desire. This is completed by escaping Samara and attaining Moksha. Moksha refers to the transcendent state of salvation and once attained the soul is absorbed into Brahman; the divine force and ultimate reality.
When Death Is Approaching
If a Hindu is nearing death, a priest should be contacted. The priest and the family then gather to be with the dying person.
Bed-side Rituals
Mantras
Those present should chant mantras or play a recording of mantras being chanted
Grass Mats
When death seems imminent, the body should, if possible, be transferred to a grass mat on the floor
Water
A small amount of water from the Ganges River should be placed in the dying person’s mouth
