Principal's Message
Hello Tulalip Community,
As we approach the month of May you should all be aware that State testing is approaching. Sophomores will be taking ELA, and Math and Juniors will be taking Science. These are important assessments to measure our school and student learning. Making sure that students are well-rested and are eating healthy meals will help to ensure student success. Please see the details further along in this letter.
In the end, assessments do not measure the value of our students, the gifts they bring do. Your partnership in encouraging students to do their best at everything they do will make a difference for a lifetime.
Have a wonderful day,
Nathan D. Plummer Ed.D
Proud Principal

ImBlaze App - Internship Attendance
Our Big Picture School is growing and developing systems to assist our students with their success. We have just added a new system that is specifically providing support for our Internships.
ImBlaze is our software system that has a website and also an app. Students all have a login and password that was automatically sent to their email. Students can search "ImBlaze" and that email should show up so they can log in and start using this piece of technology.
The website can be found here:
https://imblaze.force.com/IMB_PortalLogin
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT ALL STUDENTS ARE USING THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, FOR THE 3RD TRIMESTER, WE WILL BE USING THIS TO KEEP TRACK OF STUDENT ATTENDANCE.
Here is a Google Slides Presentation if you need further instructions.
If you have any questions about this program, please ask your advisor or myself.
Thanks!
Matt
Upcoming Testing Dates
Every year the State of Washington requires our students to take certain assessments.
This is an important measure for our students and our school. It is important that students get a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast on these days. Please have your student(s) bring their fully charged Chromebook and charger with them to school. Your student has the opportunity to keep their Chromebook in their advisory class as well so it is ready to go.
We will also have breakfast food available for students on testing days. Your support in making sure students are prepared to give their best is greatly appreciated.
May 3, 2023 - Sophomores ELA Testing
May 5, 2023 - Juniors Science Testing
May 10, 2023- Sophomores Math Testing
All other students not taking the test will be engaged in their independent work and level-up/graduation requirements. This time will also be used to prepare for the Exhibitions on June 5th - June 8th.

Attendance
Here are Tulalip Heritage High School we take attendance for every period your student is enrolled in. If you student(s) is absent for 1 or more periods a day this can trigger a automatic call home letting you know of your students absence(s).
What are Excused Absences? An excused absence is defined by the state legislature. The following are reasons for excused absences: (WAC 392-401-020).
What are Unexcused Absences? Any absence from school is unexcused unless it meets one of the criteria provided above (WAC 392-401-020).
So, what does this mean? Any time your student is absent, whether planned or unplanned, parents/guardians should contact the school to inform them that the student will be absent and the reason for absence. Parents/guardians can call the school and leave a message on the attendance line, but the law requires parents or guardians to verify the reason for absence in writing, so an email or a written note should be submitted to the office, even if parents call or leave a message.
The principal (or assistant principal) will then “excuse” or “unexcuse” the absence according to the law.
Regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused, the parent must notify the school within three days, or it will remain as an unexcused absence in the student data system.
WAC 392-401-018 Daily attendance taking. School districts must take daily attendance for all enrolled students whether the instructional modality is in-person, synchronous or asynchronous.
When instruction is synchronous online or asynchronous, secondary schools must take attendance daily in each course with planned instruction and elementary schools must take attendance at least twice a day.
[Statutory Authority: RCW 28A.300.046 and 2021 c 119 § 3. WSR
21-17-088, § 392-401-018, filed 8/13/21, effective 9/13/21.]
