School News You Can Use
Hello Walden Families!
We would like to ask for your cooperation in delaying your child's arrival to school until closer to the 8:35 a.m. start time when we have supervisors on duty at Walden.
For families who arrive a little early to school each day, we appreciate it when you stick around until 8:35 a.m. to supervise your child until a staff member comes outside for supervision. Once our staff comes outside, parents and caregivers may leave school grounds.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Interested in Becoming a Walden Lunch Supervisor?
Halloween is Coming!
- Nothing is to be worn on the face (e.g. costume masks, make-up, etc.) as this could impact the effectiveness and comfort of the required face covering.
- Please do not send students with accessories (e.g witches broom).
- Toy weapons are strictly prohibited.
- Students should plan to change into their costumes after lunch, however, we ask that students that need to change do so in their classrooms. We are not able to accommodate many children using the restrooms at once, so a partial costume can be worn at the start of the day.
- Students should not wear group costumes as they promote the exclusion of other students.
If you need assistance in providing your child with a Halloween costume, please reach out to a Walden administrator.
Families who are not comfortable sending their child in costume, please reach out to your child's teacher so that we can be sensitive to you or your child's feelings about dressing up for Halloween. We want everyone at Walden to feel comfortable.
We will also be hosting an outdoor Halloween parade for families to come and watch in the afternoon.
Additional details will be shared in the coming weeks.
Calling all pet lovers!
The Student Lighthouse Team's first project of the year is going to be a Pet Supply Drive. All supplies gathered will be donated to Orphans of the Storm, which is an animal shelter here in Deerfield. It would be PAWsome for you to donate supplies such as blankets, towels, dog bones, dog treats, cat toys, paper towels, trash bags, and dish soap. For a full list of what you can donate, please click here. We will be collecting items from Friday, October 15th to Friday, October 22nd in the Walden foyer. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Arlia (darlia@dps109.org) or Ms. Rosenbaum (arosenbaum@dps109.org). Thank you!
