5th Grade Tea Party

After much anticipation, fifth grade girls will arrive at their annual tea party. In festive holiday decor, they will practice graceful table table manners and proper table etiquette. Boys from the leadership training group will enjoy serving. The character building tea is a joint effort between students, staff, parents and local businesses. We welcome any donations.

Staff Shout Outs!

Congratulations to Mrs. Nielson as she has gotten her new 2nd Grade classroom project fully funded! Mrs. Nielson will be a new teacher here at Chancellor. In an effort to ensure that her first year is a success, Mrs. Nielson wrote a grant to furnish her new classroom. "Operation First Classroom" was recently funded through Donors Choose is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that helps public school teachers get resources for their classroom.

Please visit to check out other classroom projects at our school. Use the link and search for Chancellor Elementary to see how you can support our school.

3rd-5th graders have accepted the Fitness Challenge and becoming Fitness Champions by jogging 3 minutes, doing 10 pushups and 10 sit ups. We are excited to see more and more names added to the Fitness Champions wall. Can’t wait to see the wall filled with names! All students should practice pushups and sitp ups at home to become stronger.

We are moving on to basketball during PE. We will dribble, bounce pass, chest pass and shoot basketballs over the next few weeks. If you want to practice at home, you can find balls at a store called 5 Below for $5. This would make a great gift.

Please continue working on tossing, throwing and catching. Most students need more practice to be successful.

Here is a game you can play at home to increase muscle strength.

· Scatter objects around an area in your house. (pieces of paper, clean socks, toys, whatever…)

· Choose a place to be “home”.

· Crab walk from “home”, pick up and object, put it on your belly and crab walk back to “home”.

· Repeat until all objects are collected.

· If you have someone to play against, you can each have your own “home” and see who can get the most.

And another fun healthy snack idea:

Ingredients: peanut butter, cornflakes cereal, crushed graham crackers

Mix together peanut butter and cornflakes in a bowl. Shape into balls and roll in crushed graham crackers. Put in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes so they will harden a little. Enjoy!

Every Alief ISD student that is a bus rider has been provided with a SMART Tag from the district. The SMART Tag monitors students loading and unloading, providing real-time information to the Transportation Department, school, and the parent. It is very important for students to have their SMART Tag as it helps increase safety and security for students riding on the bus. If your child has lost or misplaced his/her SMART Tag, the replacement cost is $5.00 ($4.00 for badge and $1 for clear holder).

Go to Parent Portal and register to take advantage of the SMART tag parent features. If you are using a smartphone, you will be prompted to save the web app to your home screen. This will place the Parent App tile on your mobile device for easy access.
