PE NEWS
3rd-5th graders have accepted the Fitness Challenge and becoming Fitness Champions by jogging 3 minutes, doing 10 pushups and 10 sit ups. We are excited to see more and more names added to the Fitness Champions wall. Can’t wait to see the wall filled with names! All students should practice pushups and sitp ups at home to become stronger.
We are moving on to basketball during PE. We will dribble, bounce pass, chest pass and shoot basketballs over the next few weeks. If you want to practice at home, you can find balls at a store called 5 Below for $5. This would make a great gift.
Please continue working on tossing, throwing and catching. Most students need more practice to be successful.
Here is a game you can play at home to increase muscle strength.
CRAB WALK
· Scatter objects around an area in your house. (pieces of paper, clean socks, toys, whatever…)
· Choose a place to be “home”.
· Crab walk from “home”, pick up and object, put it on your belly and crab walk back to “home”.
· Repeat until all objects are collected.
· If you have someone to play against, you can each have your own “home” and see who can get the most.
And another fun healthy snack idea:
PEANUT BUTTER BALLS
Ingredients: peanut butter, cornflakes cereal, crushed graham crackers
Mix together peanut butter and cornflakes in a bowl. Shape into balls and roll in crushed graham crackers. Put in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes so they will harden a little. Enjoy!

The GT Campus Coordinator, Lisa Arreola, will confirm your nomination with a permission to test form sent to you through your child. Testing will take place October 2019 through March 2020. Parents will be informed of results when testing has been complete.
