Challenge Early College High School English 2 - Ms. Khalil's classes- visited the Holocaust Museum Houston. A unique educational institution that provides students with a rich and immersive learning experience.

The museum serves as both a physical location for the school and as a powerful symbol of the importance of remembering the Holocaust and other genocides.

One of the key benefits of having a school located within a Holocaust museum is the opportunity for students to engage directly with historical artifacts and documents related to the Holocaust. This kind of experiential learning can have a profound impact on students, helping to bring history to life in a way that is not possible through traditional classroom instruction alone.

Additionally, students have access to expert educators and curators who can help them to contextualize the historical events and make sense of their significance.

Studying the Holocaust can help students develop critical thinking skills and empathy, as they grapple with complex questions about human nature and the causes of genocide.

Over Spring Break, Joshua Adegoke competed at the TFA State Debate Tournament. With over 300 public and private schools competing from all over Texas, he finished 12th with some of the most prestigious debaters in the state competing.

Over the weekend our Speech and Debate team competed at the Houston Urban Debate League City Championships. Kafi Umma Tul advanced to top 16 in LD debate and Tegann Franco was 3rd in Congressional Debate and Kathyrn Flores was 5th . It was quite successful year. Next up The TFA State tournament this week.

The Animal Appreciation Society members made blankets for the Fort Bend Animal Shelter.

Over the holiday break Tegann Franco and Kathyrn Flores (as the alternate) ,were in Austin for the UIL State Congress meet. Even though Tegann did not break to the top 18 she still made the TOP 30.

Two weekends ago Joshua Adegoke competed at the Barkley Forum Debate tournament at Emory University in Atlanta Georiga reaching the top 30 in this prestigious group of debaters from all over the nation. He received an Emory Key.

This past weekend (Sat., Feb 4) our debate students competed at the Houston Urban League Debate City Championship Qualifier with the following students qualifying for the

City Championship:Kafi Umma Tul in LD debate (trying to do a repeat from winning the championship last year) and Tegann Franco and Kathyrn Flores in Congress debate. This Championship will take place in March at the Courthouse down town.

On December 3rd, Challenge students successfully participated at the SECME (Southeast Consortium on Math and Engineering). They submitted their projects on the Egg Drop Container and the Bridge.

Congrats to our debate team : this weekend Joshua Adegoke and Kafi Umma Tul competed at the UH of Cougar Classic and broke to double octos. It was a very tough tournament with some very competitive debaters!

This Tuesday our Congress team competed at the Berry Center at the UIL Region Congress meet. Here are the results: 1st Place / Region Champion Tegaan Franco 1st alternate Kathyrn Flores and 6th place Joshua Adegoke. Both Tegaan and Katherine will travel to Austin in January to compete at the State UIL Congress Tournament!!!! CONGRATS !!!

Congrats to our Challenge UIL Congress Team who competed at the UIL Region Congress meet on February 8th at the Berry Center.

The Competitive Debate Team at Challenge Early High School has been quite successful over the past few years. Under the direction of Mr. Eric Porter, ( NSDA Diamond Coach) Debate Captain Joshua Adegoke, Co-captain Kafi Umma Tul, and fellow officers Shafi Umma Tul, Enrique Juarez and Tegann Franco. The team competes on the Texas Forensic Association (TFA) circuit, at UIL Debate and UIL Congress Regional and State competitions, as well as the Houston Urban Debate League(HUDL) championship series and the National Speech and Debate Association District meet .Co -captain Kafi Umma Tul is currently the Lincoln Douglas HUDL City LD Champion, and Captain Joshua Adegoke competed last year at the State UIL Congress meet, the State UIL LD Championships and the TFA State tournament. We have had debate and Congress finalists at UIL Region and several TFA tournaments across the state consistently. Our current season began last weekend with the team travelling to their first HUDL meet at Chavez High School. Here are the results from that tournament:
