Dragon Strong Community
Superintendent's Update - Farm to Family Food Boxes
Grateful for those who made the Farm to Family Food Box possible for our Community
September 28, 2020
Dear Dragon Community,
With the challenges brought by COVID, we've also received blessings with the opportunity to serve as a distribution point for the USDA Farm to Family Food Box program. With teamwork, volunteers, and support from several community businesses and organizations, we've been able to serve over 12,000 boxes of dairy, produce, and gallons of milk.
Our participation in the program is at an end. We do not have more scheduled deliveries. While the program was continued at the federal level for phase three, the schedule with our distributor, GoFresh, is full, and they are not able to deliver on the times we can receive and safely distribute.
The work was hard, hot, and dusty. The boxes started getting heavier the longer we worked. And everyone involved agreed it was worth it to be able to serve our community. Behind every hot, sweaty mask was a smiling face. As I thanked our crew and volunteers, they told me the honor was theirs. It was a blessing to be able to help, work as a team, and serve so many appreciative people each time.
Sincerely,
Dr. Debbie Atwell
Superintendent
