We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our fourth grade, December, Special Area Students of the Month here at the Forked River School. These students were chosen by our special area teachers for their positive attitudes, kind nature, and commitment to learning:

To help us maintain a safe and efficient dismissal at 2:30 PM, please be sure to write a note or call the office before 1:00 PM, if you have any changes to your child’s normal dismissal procedures. Our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up location is in our west parking lot and is open from 9:50 to 10:00 AM for drop off and please proceed slowly and with caution through our parking lot to ensure everyone's safety at arrival and dismissal.

As we continue our journey through the season of winter, radio station 92.7 WOBM FM will broadcast weather-related adjustments to in-person learning for the Lacey Township School District as well as our district/school websites and our automated call system.

Thank you again for everyone's cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe while managing compliance with the COVID-19 school-based operating procedures enforced by the Ocean County Health Department and the New Jersey Department of Health. Keeping children home when showing symptoms that mirror COVID-19 prevents us from quarantining other students and staff for 14 days. In the event that your child will be working remotely on their in-person day, please call 609-971-2080 and then dial 2 to reach our 24-hour absentee line for reporting your child’s remote status. Your child will not be marked absent if they are working remotely on their in-person day as long as it is reported on our attendance line and they complete their work for the day.

In closing, we look forward to an educationally productive January. Please be sure to read to and with your children each night. Educational research overwhelmingly shows this is one of the most important activities in developing and enhancing both language and reading skills among elementary-age children. In addition, our website, http://frs.laceyschools.org, has many fun math-based websites available for students to visit through the “Student Links” tab.

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

The Forked River School Staff
