BROOKER CREEK ELEMENTARY
Upcoming Events!
It is an exciting time to be a Bobcat! Our amazing PTA, volunteers, and staff just pulled off a fun and interesting Fall Festival. We certainly appreciate all of your support. It would not have been the success it was without the volunteers and financial support provided by our families. We thank everyone that helped out and attended this event.
We will be hosting a Trunk or Treat on October 27. We will begin at 5:30 PM and we hope to end by 6:30. If you are unfamiliar with a Trunk or Treat, families are invited to drive through the parking lot and receive candy or other treats from the staff. Students are encouraged to dress up, as many of our staff members will also be dressed up. Some staff members may even choose to decorate their cars. Families will remain in their vehicles so there is no reason to park. You may arrive anytime between 5:30 and 6:30. As such, there's no rush to be first in line. You'll even get a chance to view the pumpkins that classrooms have decorated with a favorite storybook character in mind. We do have a request of you. This event is kicking off our annual canned food drive which is run by our Student Council. We have volunteered to help Calvary Church re-stock their food bank for the holidays. We ask that you consider dropping off non-perishable foods or grocery store gift cards. This food bank directly supports local families. The food drive will run until mid-November but this is a fun way to kick off an important event.
I would like to remind everyone that BCE is implementing the AVID program. Each student is invited to join staff in wearing their favorite college or military service shirt. This supports our goal of creating a college going culture.
The Great American Teach In is taking place November 16. You will find a flyer attached below with more information. We hope to see you!
As we approach the holiday season, it's important to mention how we plan to support our community. We are currently collecting new socks through the month of October. These socks will be donated to a group that supports the homeless population. Students are invited to wear crazy socks each Friday during October. We will also start our holiday "Angel Tree" in late November. We greatly appreciate the support you continue to show our school and our community.
All the best,
Mr. Hodges
PTA News
Hello! The PTA would like to thank everyone that came out to the Fall Festival last weekend! It was a great day and we appreciate all of the help and support of our teachers, staff and parent and student volunteers that helped to make it a great success. We loved seeing our Bobcat community come together to celebrate one of our favorite BCE traditions!
Your child should have received a fundraising flyer from Little Caesars in their folder. This is our Fall Fundraiser and we will be raising funds to assist Mr. Hodges and Mrs. Crabb with curriculum needs as well as continuing to update and improve our technology throughout the school. We appreciate your support! If you have any questions about the fundraiser, please email presidentbcepta@gmail.com. Orders will be accepted until October 24th and pickup will be on November 7th at the school. More info will be given about pickup as it gets closer. Thank you for helping us help our school!

BCE’s East Lake Sunrise Rotary Club October Student of the Month is Abigail Krajacic! Mrs. Katsourinis nominated Abigail because she is a wonderful young lady who leads by example. She works hard, takes pride in her work, and always lends a helping hand to anyone around her. As a school safety patrol, Abigail works hard to be a leader who is kind and responsible. Many of our Bobcats look up to her and she is kind to all. We are so proud of you Abigail! You are truly a Bobcat that ROARS!

P.E. News
Hello Families! We're excited to be wrapping up our first grading period...three more to go! We did our mandated Fitness Testing during this past grading period. The students did great, and we had some very impressive scores. We've focused on playing many group games the students seemed to enjoy including Bucketball, Harry Hit Pin, and Red Rover. We plan on getting more into sports skills this grading period.
We did want to make all parents aware of how their student is being graded in PE. Every student starts with a 100% "E" for their grade. This is broken down into four categories which includes Sportsmanship, Skill Development, Try Your Best, and Follow Rules and Directions. These four categories each make up 25% of the student's overall grade. If a student doesn't meet the expectation for a specific category during the class period, they are marked down. As for conduct, we look at the students Sportsmanship and Follow Rules/Expectations grade. We try our best to contact parents if we may have a concern in the direction their student is heading. To ensure you are kept up to date on your students PE grade, please check periodically online. We update student grades a couple of times a week. As always, we are here for you and your student, please feel free to reach out anytime if you need us:-)

· Send in cash: place money in an envelope and write your child’s name and their teachers name on the outside and send it in to their teacher.
· Send in a check: you may write out a check (payable to Brooker Creek Café), if you have multiple students, then one check will do. Just indicate on the memo line that you want it divided up and we will do the rest.
· My School Bucks: get the app on Google play or the App Store, to set up your student. You will need their 10 digit student id number. Once your child is set up, you may add any amount to the account as you like. The app will also let you set up alerts so that you know when funds are getting low.
