Thanks for Attending Parent Teacher Conferences

It was wonderful to see you all during conferences. Our fifteen minutes is pretty fast, so if there's anything for which you need further clarification, or remembered a question you forgot to ask, please feel free to email me, or send a quick message on Class Dojo.

Speaking of Class Dojo....

Students (and teachers) are LOVING it! Students are having fun changing their avatars and checking their points value several times each day. It sure beats having to pass out paper tokens all day, and we're saving a tree in the process! Class Dojo also has a message feature that you may wish to use. It works similarly to text messaging. This is great if you have a quick question or comment - it doesn't even have to relate to Class Dojo.

Fabulous Field Trip!

On Monday, November 17th all third graders participated in a field trip to the Bulls/Sox Training academy. While there, students learned about the importance of physical fitness and proper nutrition. Students rotated through four stations, The Vault, Railyard Fitness, Nutrition, and Energizabulls. Thanks to our chaperones - Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Gomez and Mrs. Hunter for helping supervise our students. What a fun and informative day!

Holiday Parties

On Friday afternoon we will have our holiday parties in the classroom. Thank you for sending in $2.00 to cover the cost of the party. Students will have fun playing games and enjoy root beer (or orange) floats! If you would like to send in a treat for the class, please remember that our class is peanut-free.

What is PARCC Testing?

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of 10 states working together to develop a common set of computer-based K-12 assessments in English language arts/Literacy and math, linked to the new, more rigorous Common Core State Standards.

PARCC Practice tests are online at: http://parcc.pearson.com/practice-tests/

Thanks for taking the time to read my newsletter! Write the acronym PARCC in your child's assignment notebook (one day only!) and they will receive an extra Dojo point!

Have a wonderful holiday, and a very happy New Year!
