Sunday Update for November 14, 2021

Good evening Farb Families! Here is this week’s Sunday Update.

Thanksgiving Break

Remember that next week, November 22-26 is Thanksgiving Break. There is no school; school will resume on November 29th. Thanksgiving is a time to count our blessings and be grateful for family and friends. I am grateful for all of our Farb families, our amazing Farb staff, and for our parents that serve in the armed forces and keep us safe every day. This week our students and staff will have the opportunity to fill videos in advisory sharing what they are thankful for. I am hoping to post them on our Firebird Newsletter.

Recent Event of Campus

As you are aware we have had an increase in fighting on campus. We are working hard to put things in place to mitigate and stop the drama and fights, however we need your help. We ask that you check your students' social media accounts. We have discovered that several students have instagram and TikTok accounts and they have posted the fights and are mentioning student and staff names. These accounts are stirring up drama and put our community at risk. Any account that is still up this week, will be turned over to SDPD. In addition, we are looking to start a task force with parents and staff to problem solve and put a plan in place to ensure our school is safe for all students. If you are interested, please email me or call the office at 858-397-6750.

Free Bag of Food

The cafeteria distributes a bag of food to students who would like or need the food as they leave campus each day. Unfortunately, some of our students have been taking the food and throwing it over the fence on landbridge or just throwing it all over the ground and sometimes other students. We have moved the food pick up from the back gate to the PE area. We are asking that students only take the bag if they plan to eat the food. We do not want to waste food, when there are many people in our community who need the food. We thank you for your cooperation.

Picture Day Make-Ups

We will be having picture make-ups for any student who missed the first picture day in October. All students who did not get a picture in the first round, will have their picture taken on November 16th for the yearbook. If you would like to purchase the pictures, please have your student pick up a form in the front office.

Fall Fundraiser Update

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fall ASB fundraiser. We raised $4,104. If you did not participate in the fall fundraiser and you still want to help out we do accept donations to ASB. A $20 donation would go a long way to guaranteeing we have the funds available for ASB activities, spirit week, dances, and end-of-year activities such as 6/7th grade field days, the 8th-grade activity day, and decorations for promotion. If you participated in the Fundraiser prizes are scheduled to ship out on 12/7 and should be received in early December.

Book Fair

We are excited to announce that our book fair is back! Our PTO will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair in the library this week. Students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair in their English classes. The book fair will also be open at lunch and some mornings and afternoons. See Schedule Here.

Afterschool Support and End of 12 Week Grading Period

The grading period ends this Friday, November 19, so students only have this week to get caught up with grades and missing homework. Reminder we have math and homework support on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays in the library for students to get extra help.

Thank you for your continued support. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Have a wonderful night!

Counseling Corner

Message from our Counselors

Welcome to a new school year parents and guardians! As School Counselors, we want to make sure that you know we are here to support your child. The Counseling Corner will help us give you updates so that you can stay informed and have some resources to help support your child this year. We are still getting things set up for the year, so check back in the coming weeks for more information.

In the next couple weeks we will be setting up a Counseling google classroom for this year. Students can use our google classroom to reach out to us and we will be posting other resources there throughout the year. There will also be a google form on our google classroom that students can fill out to request to talk to a School Counselor.

We hope everyone has a great first week! We are all learning and growing together during this season of life as it has its many ups and downs, but we will be here to support students and families along the way.

Please reach out to us or have your child reach out to us.
