Letter from Principal
Covid 19 Update
October 27, 2020
Dear Families,
Now that the winter weather is approaching, along with cold and flu season, we are going to begin requiring students to wear masks at their desks. They will be allowed to take mask breaks when needed. We are proud of how well our students have done this fall to keep our COVID cases at zero. We want to ensure that our school is able to remain open and wearing masks for longer periods will help us do that.
Additionally, I wanted to remind people of the change from the Niagara County Department of Health for all students with COVID symptoms, including those who stay home sick, not just those sent home by our school nurse.
Per the Niagara County Department of Health: ANY student or staff member presenting with any symptoms of COVID (fever 100 degrees or higher, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea) MUST be evaluated by a medical professional OR secure a negative covid test prior to returning to school or work. A note from a medical professional MUST include a diagnosis and a statement such as 'medically cleared to return to work/school.' This must be documented in writing and submitted to the school nurse (for students) prior to return. Parents/legal guardians or staff may not refuse to seek medical evaluation and/or a COVID test if they would like to return to school or work.
I appreciate your cooperation as we continue to navigate through these challenging times. DeSales is truly blessed to have your children at our school.
Take care,
Karen Rahill, Principal
