We Engage We Educate We Inspire

Hello Stallion Families,

The first week of school was awesome! Our students spent the first days getting back into the swing of school. Everyone learned about whisper voices at lunch and staying in your seat. We talked about expectations at recess and being kind. They made new friends and got to know their new teacher! The first days of school are fun for all of us.

There are a couple of reminders I would like to share:

  • If you will be meeting your student at the back gate, please make sure your student and the teacher knows that he/she is a back walker that day. This will allow for a quick departure from school.

  • Please do not park between the school speed zone/crosswalk signs. It makes it hard for vehicles exiting the property. It also is something Gilbert PD issues tickets for when they are present.

  • Students who will be getting into a vehicle in our drop off/pick up area are considered car riders.

  • If someone new is picking up your student, it is super important that they know what grade the student is in, and even the teacher's name.

  • Our Building Blocks families might want to consider avoiding the times of 7:45-8:10 and 2:45-3:10(1:55-2:10 on Weds). These will be our busiest times for vehicle traffic. The parent drop off/pick up driveway will be super congested. Please remember that at these times all traffic is one way on the drop-off drive, you must proceed through the driveway and exit behind the school.

As our students become more familiar with the dismissal process it will take less time. Keeping students inside the building for pick-up provides an added level of comfort while keeping our students safe.

If you would be willing to provide us some feedback on how Back to School went for you and your family, we would really appreciate it. Just click the link below to complete the feedback form.

The Week Ahead

This week is the first full week of school for our Stallions! The students are all super excited to be at school and the teachers are excited about the journey they are beginning with your students.

Tuesday is our annual PTSO Back to School Splash at Mesquite Junior High School Pool. It is from 6:30-8:30 PM and is free to SRE families. PTSO has reserved the pool for just the SRE community, so come on out and enjoy an evening swim!

This week we have early release on Wednesday. All students will be dismissed at 1:55 PM on Wednesdays. After students depart, our teachers will meet in their professional learning communities (PLCs) to review data and plan for instruction. All students will dismiss at 1:55 PM. Building Blocks times do not change.

This Friday is a Stallion Style Day! Almost every Friday we will do a Stallion Style Day. We ask our students, faculty, and staff to wear black or gray or teal or their Stallion gear. This is one of the many ways we will show our school spirit!

Thank you for making it a great start to the school year!
