Learning Modality Commitment

Learning Modality Commitment – Last Nine Weeks of School Year

As we approach the midterm of the second semester, FCS is requesting that parents make a commitment for how they wish their child to learn for the remainder of the school year, Face to Face or Remote Learning. The last 9-week period begins in March and runs until the end of the semester.

No action is needed if parents are satisfied with their child’s current learning environment. Only those who wish to change should complete the Learning Environment Hardship Form and email it to Dr. Gamel (gamel@fultonschools.org) between March 1-12. The student’s learning group will remain the same as it stood on March 1.

Rising 8th Grade Students and Parents: Course Opportunities

AMMS rising 8th graders have an opportunity to apply for upper-level Connections classes most of which are high school credit classes.

These classes are yearlong, more specific and and offer an in depth focus into a particular subject/area. The courses are also offered at JCHS, but you have the option of applying for them now. These courses serve as prerequisites to other classes that can be taken once in high school.

Successful completion of both semesters of these rigorous high school level courses can earn you one high school credit to be transferred to your high school transcript.

If selected for any of the yearlong classes, it is expected that students remain in the course for the entire year. Students must complete 2 semesters. Changes to schedules will not be made for students that decide they do not like it at some point during the course or are not doing well at the end of the 1st semester.

To learn more, click on the Power Point linked here and have your student join the Rising 8th Grade / Course Elective TEAM.

Great Job - Student Council Ambassadors and Donators!

Student Council ambassadors supported essential workers by collecting individually wrapped snack items in February. The students were able to assemble over 100 treat bags filled with snacks and present them to Grady Hospital to show appreciation for their hard work. Thank you to the families, students and staff of AMMS for your generous donations to make this project a success.

SAVE THE DATE....MARCH 11TH IS PICTURE DAY

F2F students will have their pictures taken during their social studies classes.

Safety and social distancing measures will be put in place:

  • Students will stand 6 feet apart while waiting in line with their masks on. They will take their masks off for the picture.
  • There will be no camera cards for students to use; they will provide their student (lunch) number or name to the photographer.
  • All photographers will wear masks.
  • No props will be used.

Virtual students can come to the school during their connection classes. They will be excused from these classes for pictures.

  • 6th grade virtual students – 2:20 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.
  • 7th grade virtual students – 9:00 a.m. – 11:08 a.m.
  • 8th grade virtual students – 11:13 a.m. – 1:05 p.m.

We will allow students from the same family to come together (for example, a 6th and 8th grade student from the same family). Students will enter the front door, get their picture taken in the front atrium, and then exit immediately. Parents will be required to wait in the parking lot for their students.

You should receive an email from Lifetouch about the online procedures for ordering the pictures. If you have any questions, please contact Anita Erickson at ericksona@fultonschools.org.
