Well it has been a pretty busy half term and as ever Senior Girls have crammed a huge amount of learning and activity into each day.

The first half term has flown by and the girls have achieved so much. Already, fixtures have been played, rehearsals for our performance at the Royal Albert Hall have started and roles for our Christmas Production have been chosen.

Please check your email as I have sent the “2build a profile” observations of your child for this half term.

Please inform us if your child will be away at the time of our Nursery Department Christmas production which will take place on Tuesday 6th December at 9.15 a.m. with the dress rehearsal happening the day before. We ask that all children attend both mornings even if it is not a booked session.

G11 Half Term Grade Card/Mailing

The Year 11 girls are bringing home their half term grade card together with a letter explaining the grades. Also enclosed in the mailing is your daughter's mock examination GCSE timetable which includes dates for the IGCSE's. The timetable is on our website under 'Parents, Letters & Notices from the Office' but please find the link here.

The Scholarship programme for pupils entering Years 7, 8 , 9 or Sixth Form in September 2017 is now available. You can request a scholarship application pack from the school office, or download one from the website. Please note, there was an error in the printed leaflet, please refer to the website for the correct qualifying ages.

To aid parents with the planning of their child’s education and the high demand for places we have two Scholarship application rounds for 2016-17. Candidates can only take part in one round. Dates for round one are as follows:

LIBRARY NEWS - Accelerated Reader

All Year 7 and Year 8 pupils are enrolled on the Accelerated Reader reading development programme. An information pack for parents has been sent home this week which includes your daughter’s reading range and information on both the AR scheme and the excellent AR BookFinder website: All parents and pupils can use this free online book-searching tool to find interesting and appropriate books quickly and easily, in the knowledge that there is an Accelerated Reader quiz available for each book.

EBooks to make you Screeeeam!

Senior Girls! Add some horror to your Halloween with a scary new ebook from the Claires Court Libraries…. All provided by our wonderful PTA! Just download your chilling choice from the Library Database ‘Access-It’ which is available on the Library Services page on the Claires Court Hub. You just need your 5 digit school number… and nerves of steel!

Date for your diary… Travelling Book Fair: 23-24 November 2016

On Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th November the Girls’ School will be hosting a Travelling Book Fair in the Senior Library. All students will be bringing home a letter after the half term inviting you to visit the Fair which will explain the safe and easy payment options available on the web site: This includes an excellent facility to purchase pre-paid book vouchers which may be redeemed at the Fair, or pay for books online, in advance. Come and start your Christmas shopping with us – every sale provides commission for free books for our Libraries!


Please remember that the girls must be in their drama blacks for club and lessons after October half term.

A friendly U13 Hockey Invitation Tournament took place at St Mary's school on Saturday 15th October. A combination of Year 7 and 8 players came together for the first time this year and performed exceptionally well together. The results were as follows:
