Big picture

Good time for gardening

The plants in our new east courtyard garden are doing really well. In fact, Green Team students gathered enough lettuce for every classroom to enjoy.

Just as the veggies grow, so do the weeds! Please consider spending some time one week pulling weeds. Try signing up with a fellow Sycamore family to make it fun. Click here to sign up and for more information

6th Grade Announcements

May and June are full of exciting days, and that is especially true for sixth graders. Last week, families received a packet of information regarding our upcoming Outdoor Science School. Please read the cover letter carefully, complete them and get them back to the office right away.

This year's Outdoor School has a cost of about $160 per student, and we've 66 students attending. We will meet that commitment through community donations and those of our sixth grade families. Cash or checks will be collected in the school office or donations can be made through Zelle at SycamoreDonations@gmail.com. We thank you for giving in any amount.

Don't forget to submit your child's pictures for the sixth grade memory book! They are past due.

Use this link to upload one picture of your child for the "Baby Faces" collage. It should be labeled with your child’s name.

Submit three to four “Through the Years” pictures of your child and their friends from kindergarten to sixth grade.

We thank you for your help in making the end of year special for our sixth graders.

Thank you!

Thank you to all who assisted with the staff luncheon or celebrated staff for this week's Staff or Teacher Appreciation Day. We were touched by your kindness!

Voting for Governance Council Leadership

Sycamore's Governance Council is open to all, and it includes officers and School Site Council/committee chairs who serve as leaders for the group. Interested community members have submitting names for the various positions, and it is now time to vote. Please use this link to view this year's ballot and vote for positions by Tuesday, May 10. Staff members are also a part of Governance Council. Those individuals round out our group so so we have parity between staff and family/community members.

Garden Party Feedback Request!

The Governance Community wants your input! Whether or not you attended the Garden Party on April 29, we invite you to take our short survey to help us plan future events. The survey will take no longer than 5 minutes to complete and can be accessed here.

Time is almost up!

Claremont Educational Foundation Car Raffle will sell tickets through June 1. Don't miss your chance to get the winning ticket!

The Claremont Educational Foundation (CEF) supports Claremont students with funding for art and music instruction, technology and teacher-generated curricular grants. Sycamore receives over $12,000 in support of art and music instruction each year.

You can further the work of CEF and Sycamore by participating in CEF's annual car raffle. Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. For each ticket sold, Sycamore will receive $7. The owner of the winning ticket will receive their choice of a Buick Encore, Chevrolet Equinox, or a GMC Terrain, vehicles donated by local dealerships. Tickets are available in the school office. Feel free to email Tina at thensley@cusd.claremont.edu to arrange for pickup. You and Sycamore might be the lucky winner!

We're offering several different restaurant fundraisers and we have just a few to go. These are a nice way to meet up with fellow Sycamore friends while earning a bit of money for our school. When you visit, let them know you are from Sycamore and thank them for their contribution to our school.
