A Message from Mrs. Caudill
It's October, the leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and there is positive energy resonating through Amerman's halls. As the newness of the school year wears off, we find ourselves settling in, more relaxed yet working as hard as ever.
While things are not entirely back to "normal," we have come a long way. Starting the year together and learning in person has set all of our students and staff up for success. This continuity of learning has allowed us to reset good school patterns, establish expectations, and most importantly, build relationships that foster academic growth.
We expect great things for our students and will continue to make strides toward our goals this year and in the years to come. Thank you for your support and continued partnership as we continue to raise the achievement bar for all of our students.
Be Well,
Devon Caudill

Reminder - Bring a water bottle Daily
Just a friendly reminder to make sure you are packing a water bottle daily for your child(ren). Our drinking fountains are not turned on for health reasons, however, our bottle filling stations are up and running! Water bottles are necessary during the day so our students are staying hydrated.

Halloween
Halloween celebrations will happen at Amerman on Friday, October 29th. We will be having parties (sorry no parents) that day. Students can either wear their costume to school or be able to put it on over their clothes to avoid congestion in the bathroom areas.
Please follow these guidelines when planning your child's costume:
- Please make sure the costume is weather appropriate (students will go outside for recess)
- Students are responsible for their costumes not causing a problem during learning time.
- Face make-up, hairspray, etc. must be applied at home.
- No fake weapons of any kind are allowed at school.
- No fake blood and no scary costumes (if it would scare a kindergartener, please don’t wear it!)
The Halloween Parade route will take us outdoors and therefore, will only take place if the weather cooperates. There is no Plan B if inclement weather. Details of the route will be shared in next week's Broadcast.

Northville Public Schools Close Contact Quarantine Protocol
NPS has aligned our Close Contact Protocol with the guidance provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) shown here in the School Quarantine Guidance graphic and supported by our local Health Department. This guidance provides multiple pathways for students to remain in school. For a more detailed explanation of this graphic, please see this NPS Close Contact Quarantine Protocol Explained document.
If your child is an identified Close Contact to a positive COVID case, we will contact you and further explain your options of, where possible, keeping your child safely in school.

COVID Safety and Mitigation Plans
As we come together in learning this year, it is important to remember to perform at-home self-monitoring using the COVID-19 Daily Student Symptom Screening Tool. This screener serves as a daily reminder that children who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 (or ANY illness) need to stay home from school. This is an important measure that will help prevent or reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in using this screener each school day. In addition to the daily screener students and staff are required to wear masks while indoors.
The NPS 2021-22 COVID-19 General Mitigation Response Plan outlines the multiple layers of COVID-19 safety measures being implemented across the district to support the health and safety of all students and staff. School principals will share specific building procedures with families. Processes are in place at each school to teach and/or reinforce safety measures with all students. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document answers additional questions you may have as you and your child are preparing for the start of the 2021-22 school year.

Leader in Me October Focus: Habit 1 - Be Proactive
Habit 1 – Be Proactive – “I’m in Charge of Me”
What this means: Take charge of your own life. Make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
“I am responsible for me.”
“I do the right thing before I am asked.”
“I do the right thing even when no one is looking.”
“I do not blame others for my actions.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
2. When you get mad and want to say something, stop, think, and ask yourself-
Why am I getting so angry? Make a good choice in a good way.
Great Books for Habit #1- Be Proactive
- The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds
- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
- Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
- The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper
- Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman
- Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun by Maria Dismondy
