Please bring a bagged lunch on this day and a snack! We will have a snack when we arrive, then tour the orchard and then eat lunch before leaving. If you are not chaperoning please send in your child's booster seat on the morning of the trip, they will use their own booster in our chaperones vehicles. If you are chaperoning please keep in mind that the orchard is about 50 minutes away so please make sure your gas tank is full before arriving to school that morning!
FIRST - First grade will have the ECO Bus come visit us on Sept. 24th. We will also transform our classrooms into kitchens the week of Sept 23rd to work on a How-To Unit. We will learn How to Cook and then write about it.

FIFTH - The 5th graders are going on their first field trip of the year Friday, Sept. 20th. Please make sure students are dressed in clothes you won't mind them getting dirty/wet in (we'll be creeking and sluicing most of the day!) Students should also plan to bring along a small bag to carry an extra change of clothes, dry socks/shoes, and a towel. Don't forget to pack a bag lunch for your student along with a refillable bottle of water. If you have any questions reach out on Remind @ncla5thgr

LUNCH ORDERS
Tuesdays are ordered through Jason's Deli.
Thursdays are ordered through Cici's.
Each vendor has a little bit different cut-off time, etc. so please refer to the reference sheet that I am attaching here! Lunch services are great...until a student doesn't receive their lunch because it was ordered too late, for the wrong date, etc. Please be diligent in double checking your orders after they are complete and making sure you tell your student the correct dates. (I post mine on a sticky note next to my kitchen calendar and my kids know they are responsible for keeping up with when they need to pack lunches - just an idea!)
DROP OFF AND PICK UP
NEW PARKING LOOP
If you choose to park in the mornings, please know that you will not be allowed to exit until carline is done (most likely around 8:00).
AM LINE - if you want to turn left onto High Point Rd, you need to stay in the left lane and drop your student off on the sidewalk behind the buildings. If you want to turn rightonto High Point Rd., you need to stay in the right lane and drop your students off on the side of the gym. All students K-5 come to the gym in the morning
All students may start arriving at 7:20. K-5 school hours are 7:50-3:00. Grades 6 - 12 8:00 - 3:15
PM LINE - if your youngest student is in grades K-2, you will stay in the right lane to pick them up from the side of the gym. If your youngest student is grade 3 or above, you will stay in the left lane and drive past the back building to pick your student up. You will be able to turn right or left onto High Point Rd. from either lane. Someone will be stationed at the exit to help you get in the right lane.
If you have a student in grades 6 - 12, the younger student will be held and taken to their area for pick up at 3:15 on the left lane side in the back of the school.
IMPORTANT PICK UP INFO
- If you are picking up students in grades K- 5 ONLY, please arrive as by 3:00 for pick-up. Arriving after 3:10 causes late pick-ups for older kids.
- If you are picking up students in grades 6 - 12. You will not be able to sit in the car line and wait for them until 3:15. So please do not arrive earlier due to K - 5 pick up time at 3:00. Arrive as close to 3:15 as possible so that we can get you through the line. Otherwise, you will be asked to pull through and circle around.
- PLEASE be KIND to your fellow parents. Allow them to merge into the correct lane that they need. For example, 3 - 5 students and 6 - 12 ONLY need to use the left lane. Please allow these cars to merge into this lane as needed.
PE Uniforms
Many of you picked these up tonight. If you ordered on August 1st or after, your uniforms will be delivered the first week or two of school and will come home with your student. Anyone who has not ordered appropriate PE uniforms needs to do so pronto please. Students must be in PE uniformware no later than September 13th!!!
Upper grades can also buy nike clothing from athletics site HERE.
Crosby Scholars
We heard the requests for a facebook page in which parents can post photos, ask questions etc with parents in their grades. Therefore, we have created school groups. You will need to request to be part of the group. Please remember to keep comments positive and supportive. This should not be used as a bully site. We are also asking that you close all other individually owned private facebook class accounts. The link to the individual links to the pages are below.
Please pack utensils in your lunch box
Plastic forks and spoons are contributing to a growing problem with where to store all of the landfill TRASH. Plastics are not being recycled as they once were because other countries have stopped accepting out plastic discards. According to National Geographic, 91% of plastics are not being recycled but ending up in the landfill. See short video about plastic contamination.
Please go to goodwill or target and buy an extra stainless steel spoon and fork to keep in your lunchbox - it can be washed and reused. We will not be passing out plastic eating utensils this year as a school. OR BUY A SET FROM AMAZON FOR $9.99
