Happy May! There is so much to look forward to on the horizon! A new month, new beginnings, new memories, and new celebrations. We are also on the brink the end of this year.

Our students are crushing the Spring Dreambox Challenge! Encourage your Hawk to keep going!! Student winners are announced every week, and we have some great prizes on deck for the end! Let's finish strong.

We Cannot Mask Our Appreciation!! We are so thankful for the amazing teachers in our nest. They have truly gone the distance this year. We invite you to help us celebrate them all week long. Remember, students in Grades 3- 8 are given End of Grade Tests each year! These test are standardized State Tests. If you are a Virtual Academy Family, you may not feel comfortable testing your student this year, due to in-person testing requirements. Virtual Academy Families should let the school know their testing intentions by May 3, 2021! VIRTUAL ACADEMY TEST INTENTION SURVEY

ELA News

• 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade students will begin EOG Prep Friday, May7. Packets for Virtual Students need to be picked up the week of May 3. There will be a bin for each grade level on the picnic tables in front of the school. Please take 1 packet per student.

• Remember to login and complete your Dreambox!
• Remember to indicate your plans for Math 1 Exam if you are in Virtual Academy!

Student Services News

• Honor roll certificates that were not picked up on Wednesday can now be picked up at the front during regular school hours.
• We will be teaching the "Keeping Yourself Physically and Emotionally Safe" curriculum to 7th and 8th graders next week. 8th graders will receive the lesson during Social Studies on Tuesday, May 4th and 7th graders will receive it during the same class on Thursday May 6th. Parents will find an informational letter at this link which includes links to a parent presentation that goes over what will be discussed in class. Anyone with any questions regarding the presentation or any concerns about their student following the presentation should reach out to our Middle School Counselor at ependergraft@wcpss.net.

Parents- the decision is yours!

• Enrollment for 2021-22 Virtual Academy is open now until May 2.
• Students and families who register for the WCPSS Virtual Academy will be required to meet these responsibilities.
• Students and families must commit to attend the Virtual Academy for the entire 2021-22 school year.
• The deadline to enroll in Virtual Academy for the 21-22 school year is approaching.
