Clackamas River Chinooks!
September 17, 2021
We are now at the end of our first full week of school. It always amazes me how fast our students pick up on routines, form new relationships and find their way around the building. Elementary schools truly are the one of the most exciting places to be in September.
Please remember to take even mild symptoms seriously when you are filling out your screener. We are already seeing local schools return to online learning due to exposures and positive cases. We know that many children have very mild symptoms before testing positive. We need to work together to stop this from happening at CRE. If you child begins to have symptoms at school, please have a back up plan to ensure a quick pick up.
Because there will be an increase in missed days for illness and quarantine, attending when healthy becomes even more important. Today your child will be bringing home a magnet to put on your fridge. In a typical year, you would record absences for any reason with the goal of staying in the green. Because we are asking you to stay home for mild symptoms or longer periods of time, this year we would like you to only record the days you are absent for things other than illness, like vacations, appointments, and sleep ins. At the end of the year, if you are still in the green, bring your magnet back in for a t-shirt!
We will also be asking that you follow the link below to sign our Covid Pledge. It may look familiar as many of you did so last year. This is another way to ensure that we are all on the same page with keeping our students and schools healthy.
This year the Jog-A-Thon is back! We are really looking forward to a day of running and fundraising. Please mark you calendars for October 1 and watch our weekly update for information from Mr. Carroll, our awesome PE teacher and Mr. Helmess our awesome PE student teacher. We will release more details as the event gets closer.
For the first time in a long time, we will have a rainy weekend to relax and enjoy. I hope you make the best of it and I'll look forward to seeing you all on Monday!
