Holiday Travel Recommendations
As we prepare to travel and gather with our loved ones this holiday season, we must again consider each other’s health and well-being.
Below is a modified explanation of the CDC recommendations regarding domestic and international travel, which you can refer to when planning your holidays. Please note: the wearing of masks is REQUIRED (for vaccinated or unvaccinated) on all public transportation and public transportation hubs, such as airports and train stations.
DOMESTIC TRAVEL
If you are vaccinated, you may travel safely within the US. However, consider wearing a mask in highly crowded areas and during activities that may put you in close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated. After traveling, monitor yourself for symptoms. If symptoms should develop, isolate yourself, contact your doctor, and get tested for COVID as advised by your doctor.
If you are unvaccinated, testing for COVID is encouraged 1-3 days before your trip and 3-5 days after your trip, with self-quarantine for 7 days. If you choose not to get tested, you are encouraged to quarantine for 10 days upon your return. Take precautions to protect yourself and others, such as wearing masks in recommended areas, avoiding crowds and maintaining social distancing. Self-monitor for COVID symptoms.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
International travel is not recommended for those who are not vaccinated. Check the travel requirements for the country to which you are traveling because some require a negative test before entry. Before returning to the US, proof of a negative COVID test result is required. For vaccinated people, the test must have been completed within the last 3 days. For unvaccinated people, the test must have been completed within the last 24 hours. For those who had documented COVID infection within the last 90 days, proof of recovery might be required.
After returning to NJ, all travelers must be tested within 3-5 days of returning. In addition, unvaccinated people must quarantine for 7 days, even with a negative test result. Vaccinated people do not have to quarantine, but must monitor themselves for symptoms. If these develop, quarantine should be instituted.

HOLIDAY GIVING (Gift Cards & Gifts)
The Holiday Giving Program focuses on providing gift cards & new gift items/needs for families experiencing hardship who may be unable to provide fully for themselves. This program is driven by the generosity of individuals, families, and local businesses who anonymously “adopt” children/families in need. The program is offered annually in November & December. All donated items are due by Thursday, December 16th. Here’s how YOU can help:
Adopt a whole Family OR child -- You will be provided the age/sex of child/family and idea/wish/need list to purchase items. Donor and recipient personal information is strictly confidential.
Donate a Gift Card -- Community members wishing to help the Holiday Giving Program do not have to adopt a family; instead, they may wish to donate a retail gift card or a check made payable to FTMHS Student Council.
Gift cards and/or checks can be dropped off at Riverfront School Main Office (attention Gina Dunphy) OR Florence High School Main Office (attention Georgie Rodan).
To adopt a child/family or donate gifts/gift cards -- please contact Gina Dunphy at gdunphy@florence.k12.nj.us
