PTA NEWS
Welcome back to school! On behalf of the PTA, we hope the new school year is off to a great start. We hope to have another great PTA year that affords us the ability to continue all of the things that we consider special for our children and unique to Altamont Elementary School.
The success of our program depends highly on the support of our parents and school community. The PTA sponsors many events such as Bingo Night, Children's Craft Morning and the Winter Dance as well as enrichment activities such as assemblies, Homespun Dance, author visits and hosting environmentalist George Steele. Support is also given to fund field trips and purchases requested from our teachers, when funding allows. Many of these programs directly benefit from the revenue generated from PTA membership. We strongly encourage everyone to become a member of our PTA. Becoming a PTA member is a monetary contribution to help support our programs. Being a member of the PTA in no way obligates you to attend meetings, volunteer, or sign up for any activity. Please contact our Membership Chair, Alex VanDeusen at 861-7232 or alexfletchv@nycap.rr.com to become a member.
Volunteering for committees and events is a great opportunity to be involved with our school and witness the success of our PTA program. Thank you to all of the volunteers who have already signed up through the volunteer forms and at Open House! We have had a great response. At this point, we are still in need of a chairperson and volunteers for recycling and another PTA Council Representative. We are also looking for photographers and volunteers to work with our current chairperson to put together the yearbook. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Kelly Stang, our PTA Vice President/Volunteer Coordinator at 861-5021 or kstang@nycap.rr.com.
We welcome everyone to attend our PTA meetings. This is a great forum to share ideas, concerns and let your voice be heard. Our PTA website is accessible via the district website (http://www.guilderlandschools.org), click on Altamont Elementary and click on “PTA” at the left hand side. The website contains all PTA meeting dates, agendas for the meetings and minutes of past meetings. Upcoming events are also posted on our website. Please direct any questions regarding the PTA to our PTA President, Brenda Moncur at 857-5774 or brendamoncurPTA@yahoo.com.
Wishing you a fun school year at AES,
Brenda Moncur, PTA President
