Principals Desk

Above is a photo that Ms. Kappele posted recently, and I feel that it pretty much sums up what is important. As we enter our fall break, thanksgiving week I want to focus on what I am thankful for. This year has had its challenges but what I find to be important is to focus on the positives and what we are thankful for.

So I wanted to share a few things I am thankful for. I am thankful for seeing our students smile every day, hearing their laughter, and seeing the excitement in their eyes as they are learning and growing. I am thankful they are in school and we are able to be together. I am thankful for the families and parents that support our students at home and love them every day. I am thankful for our teaching staff who continue to plan engaging lessons across all content areas, along with building strong relationships with all kids. I am thankful for our whole staff who are willing to do everything that needs to be done to ensure our students are successful and have a bright future. I am thankful for our support staff for the time and energy and patience they have throughout the day, always being flexible and supporting anywhere it is needed. I am thankful for Ms. Fick and Ms. Lefelstein for continuing to support all the daily affairs at Lincoln in our office and welcoming new families and having a caring disposition when discussing the health protocols related to COVID. I am thankful to our lunchroom supervisors for making great lunches and breakfast every day, and also for their caring supervision on the playground. I am thankful to our bus drivers and crossing guard who ensure our students get to school safely. I am thankful for the opportunity to spend the days with all of our Lincoln Leopards, thank you and I wish you all the best this holiday week.

I have included a video below from some of the great work that Ms. Cranmer and the 2nd graders have done using OZOBOTS, recreating a parade from a book they read. Enjoy!

i-Ready Mid-Year Diagnostics

The i-Ready Mid-Year Diagnostics for both reading and math will be conducted the second week after Thanksgiving Break.

Our testing schedule is:

  • Tuesday, December 7th-;i-Ready Math Diagnostic

  • Wednesday, December 8th; i-Ready Reading Diagnostic

Diagnostic makeups will take place from Thursday, December 9th - to Friday, December 17th. The information provided from this diagnostic will be used to identify student growth and help us plan for future instruction. Our SIP day on January, 3rd will be dedicated to reviewing our data and will provide opportunities to plan for students to work on their personal pathway. If you have any questions, please let me know, below is the parent letter explaining this in more detail.

Social Work update

I wanted to share some information, our current social worker Shannon Bernal's last day is today. Ms. Bernal has reached out to all families she works with directly, but many students and families in our Lincoln Community know Ms. Bernal and have worked with her over the past few years during her time as a part-time social worker.

We are grateful for Ms. Bernal's service to our Lincoln students and families over the past 3 years. We are actively searching for a replacement for Ms. Bernal and have increased the Lincoln social work position to a full-time. In the meantime, our building will be supported by a district-wide social worker; this includes servicing students entitled to direct social work service through Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Please let me know if you have any questions, and feel free to email me at this time if you need anything,

Virtual Book Fair

Lincoln's Virtual Book Fair is coming to a computer or mobile device near you! We are excited to host a virtual book fair online through Anderson's Bookshop from Nov. 24-Dec.13. Books will be delivered to Lincoln on December 16. You will also have the option to have books shipped to you for an additional cost. All proceeds of the virtual book fair will go towards purchasing additional titles for the Lincoln LRC. Consider doing some of your holiday shopping through our book fair; you will be supporting both a local business and literacy at Lincoln! Contact with any questions.

Psst! You can actually start ordering now! Visit to order books online and be sure to include Lincoln Elementary, St. Charles in your order. INformation is in the flyer below.

Art Volunteers In The Classroom (AVIC) is back!

Art Volunteers In The Classroom (AVIC) is back!

Do you want to volunteer for the Lincoln PTO but have limited time?

AVIC might be your answer!

Get creative in the classroom! Once a month, share art through presentations and art projects. There are framed prints hanging in the halls for your inspiration. Each print has a resource packet full of information and ideas for lessons and art projects.

Volunteer for your child's class! The students love the fun and educational presentations. We need 2-4 volunteers to share the responsibility in each classroom. If no one volunteers for your child's class, think of what they'll be missing!

Sign up to volunteer by clicking the link below

If you are interested in learning more about AVIC, please email Anne Staat at
