STATE TESTING IS COMING-JUNIORS ONLY!
Each school year, Oregon students take assessments to meet federal requirements. The purpose of these assessments is to provide data that schools can use to ensure that every child is on track and achieving learning goals.
State law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the State Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of the math and English Language Arts assessments for the current school year. Should you wish to opt-out your child, fill out the form and submit it to the main office or email them to Jami Schmid at, jschmid@scappoose.k12.or.us. The DEADLINE TO SUBMIT OPT-OUTS IS APRIL 10th. Meeting the deadline will help the school with planning and preparation.
If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please contact your student's administrator.

What we do:
Event planning, resourcing, and fundraising for the Senior Luncheon, Baccalaureate, and Graduation party.
Seniors attended an assembly on Monday and received a plethora of information about important deadlines and events from now through graduation day. Please ask them about it! The packet includes the permission slip to attend the all-night graduation party.
Senior Luncheon, Fri Jun 2: After the seniors do their parade-style walk through the elementary schools, they come back to the high school to refuel with some lunch and then start rehearsal for the graduation ceremony. Lunch is provided by the Safe & Sober parent organization.
Baccalaureate, Fri Jun 2 @ 7 pm in the auditorium: This is an optional event based on the ceremony of blessing that has often preceded graduations. Ours is a non-denominational and inspirational celebration and will include a guest speaker, the senior slideshow, and more. The slideshow is put together by the Safe & Sober parent organization along with some light refreshments.
Action items for senior parents:
Send a baby picture and a current picture to shssafeandsober@gmail.com, including the first and last name of the student. (thank you to everyone who has sent them in!)
DUE MAY 1st
Senior collages are a long-standing tradition. The collages of photos and memories of your senior will be on display at a special ‘Walk through Memory Lane’ event following the Baccalaureate in the cafeteria.
Poster requirements: Design vertically 28” h x 22” w on traditional poster board, including the student’s name on the front and upper left corner on the back.
DROP OFF AT THE SHS OFFICE MAY 30 - JUNE 1. You will get the posters back after the event. Have fun and get creative!
Graduation party, Sat Jun 3: This party is meant to be a safe place for graduating seniors to celebrate together. They will be bussed to a secret (fun!) location in the evening after the graduation ceremony. They will be bussed back in the morning. The evening is filled with food, games, prizes, activities, chilling, and loads of fun!
Permission slips were sent home this week on the last page of the packet.
A signed permission slip is required to attend
