It's cold outside - Please remember students do not enter the building prior to 8:35 unless it's inclement weather or below zero temperatures.
We know students love extra playtime on the playground but for the safety of your child we ask that you DO NOT drop off prior to 8:20 a.m. Students should come to school dressed as they would for recess time, i.e boots, hats, gloves, winter jacket.
Dress for the weather
Students will be going outside for outdoor recess unless the weather is below zero or there is a negative wind chill present. It is very important to make sure your child has winter gear available for school. If you child is in need of winter gear assistance please contact Kim Rivera-Kloeppel.
Winter Weather Gear/Recess
If the weather allows we will go outside daily for at least 20 minutes for recess at lunch as well as a second recess. As a reminder students should have a separate coat for going outside rather that just a sweatshirt they wear all day.
Play in Snow gear:
Hats, Mittens/Gloves, Snow pants, Boots *Students will not be allowed to go onto the playground equipment unless they have snow pants.
Blacktop only:*
Hats, Mittens/Gloves, Boots/Sneakers
Please label all winter weather items so they can be returned if misplaced.
RECESS EXPECTATIONS
Students are to be outside for recess unless the weather is inclement, a child has a note from home (which allows a child to be inside for one day), or a teacher is supervising a child in the classroom.
Outdoor Recess
Children will be outside except during inclement weather, or when required to work with a teacher, or due to illness/injury (this requires a note from home for the 1st day and a doctor’s excuse if more than one day).
Children are expected to wear an additional outer jacket/sweatshirt when the temperature is 50 degrees or lower.
Toys from home are discouraged as we are not responsible for these items.
Team sports, games and equipment use are subject to the same rules of sportsmanship and safety learned in physical education and social emotional learning classes.
