Reflection and celebration
As the school year has come to an end, I look back at some awesome opportunities for our students and staff.
- Our first Veterans' Day assembly
- Penny Wars raising money of South Sudan
- Project Linus making blankets for Children's Hospital
- Seeing kids reading all over the building
- Watching our STEM lab become a hub of investigation and discovery
- Watching our kids compete in sports and academic competitions
I hope that I didn't leave out one of your favorites. If you'd like to look back on the school year, you can see all of the smores using this link.
Speaking of Celebrations...
Last Friday was a great day for Celebration Day. Our students had a chance to go "off site" for field trips in the morning to a number of fun places. They then returned for lunch, some games, and the Merton Mashup. Below is the video with the Intermediate students dancing with their Primary School buddies.
8th grade graduation
Last night was a chance for us to say goodbye to our 8th graders. They were a good class and will represent Merton well as they move on to high school. I shared a message with all of them that I thought I'd share with you, too. Here is a link to the words I shared with the poster that ended my comments.
As the school year comes to a close, I would be remiss to not say thank you to all of your support during the school year. I appreciate the emails and phone calls and meetings that provide me with an opportunity to reflect and make Merton a better school for all of our students. I must also thank Mrs. Emmerich for keeping me focused, reminding me of deadlines, and making sure the school runs well. Finally, I thank my wife and daughter for their continued support and understanding as I work to make Merton the best school it can be.
