Attention Freshman Parents!
ATTENTION FRESHMAN PARENTS: Over the course of Friday, 10/27 and Monday 10/30, Ms. Vacarro (9th Grade Counselor) and Mrs. Larimore (Career Specialist) will be presenting to all 9th Grade English classes on the topics of Goal Setting and Career Planning. Students will have the opportunity to set up an account through the state's MyCareerShines Career Planning Web site (www.mycareershines.org) The site allows students to take career assessments, then research career and educational opportunities that match their interests. After setting up an account, students will be able to access this site from school or home throughout high school and beyond. Parents also have the ability to set up a linked parental account to view more information about your child's career interests. Students participating in the presentations on Friday and Monday will take home a sheet that contains their MyCareerShines username and password, as well as some career pathways and occupations that match their career interests. Please use this as a conversation starter with your 9th grader. We hope you will take advantage of this great resource to help your student reach their 9th Grade Milestones!
