Summer Learning with Fuller
What we have for your student . . .
Mainstream and ESL Levels 3 and 4 Summer Reading
All Fuller students are receiving a handy carry bag with a copy of their summer reading book. Students in mainstream ELA classes received a Nic Stone book; for rising 6th- and 7th-graders, it is Clean Getaway, while rising 8th-graders received the award-winning Dear Martin. Most excitingly, she will be speaking to Fuller students in the Fall! We don't have all the details yet, but her inspirational talk will be a great opportunity for your student to interact with an award-winning author.
Research clearly shows that everyone becomes a better reader the more that they read; with the challenges of the past year, it is so important that your students read as often as possible. In addition to the Nic Stone book, we strongly encourage you to help your student find time to read anything that is of interest to them, as that will help all of our students to be ready for our return in August.
For the first time, all students can access a digital or audio copy of the text all summer. All mainstream summer reading information, and details on accessing those versions, are here:
Clean Getaway: eBook/eLivro/eLibro: FPL / Sora ~ Audio: FPL / Sora
Dear Martin: eBook/eLivro/eLibro: FPL / Sora ~ Audio: FPL / Sora
In addition, all students will have an opportunity to show what they took away from their book(s). This is the choice board they will pick from to show their thinking: Nic Stone Choice Board.
For students who remained virtual this year, bag pickups are available; please fill out this simple form before 2 p.m. each day that indicates when you will pick up (available Monday through Thursday until 8 p.m.):
Bags will be outside door number 2, which is Fuller's middle door, through 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
ESL-Bilingual Summer Reading
All students entering ESL next school year are required to read at least one book, according to their level; students received a bag with a book before they left school for the summer:
ESL 1: The Bad Guys
ESL 2: Awkward
Here is a slideshow that explains what is in each bag: ESL-Bilingual Summer Bags
Students are being asked to complete a "one-pager" that shows what they have learned; supplies were included to make sure they could have fun with it: One-Pager Information
For students who remained virtual this year, bag pickups are available; please fill out this simple form that indicates when you will pick up (available Monday through Thursday until 8 p.m.):

SUMMER MATH ACTIVITIES-ENGLISH
i-Ready and IXL Support
Both of these online platforms will be available for much of the summer. i-Ready provides support in both reading and math, and their use will support your student's return to school learning in August. IXL provides support in all four core subjects -- English, Math, Science, and Social Studies -- in various skills essential to those disciplines. Access is available through student school accounts.
