A Remarkable Year
As we head into the final week of the 2016 - 2017 school year, it is the perfect time to reflect on what a remarkable year it has been. Of course the accomplishments of students at all of our schools are far too many to name, but looking back over the events of this year brings great satisfaction that we provided an outstanding educational and extracurricular experience for our students. Thanks to each and everyone of you who contributed to the success of CCS in the 2016 - 2017 school year.
CHS Baccalaureate Service
Our seniors and their families and friends joined together Sunday afternoon for the baccalaureate service. It was a time of fellowship and reflection on their past 13 years together and an opportunity to celebrate their bright futures!
CHS Graduation Friday at Wallace State Community College
Our seniors will have their last moments as CHS students this Friday night at WSCC. Graduation will be at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00.
Scholarship Awards Assembly
Our Scholarship Awards Assembly was held last week. This was a wonderful time of recognition for our seniors. We are so proud of where our students are headed. Their futures will be bright.
CHS Baseball and Softball Teams Fall Short of Blue Map Hopes
CHS Baseball and Softball teams ended their seasons last week. Both teams made it to the state tournament, but ended short of bringing home the championship title. Despite their loses, we are so very proud of these athletes! You are an important part of why all of us are proud to be Bearcats!

CMS Choir Joins CHS Choir for Spring Performance
The CMS choir, CHS women's choir, CHS men's choir, and CHS chamber choir performed last week, highlighting over 20 soloists! It was a wonderful chance for our audience to see the vast talent of these kids as well as all of their hard work. The theme of the concert was "A Colorful Celebration." The choirs performed music from many different artists including Coldplay, Sara Bareilles, Twenty One Pilots, and many more.
CMS Awards Assembly
Recognizing our students' successes is an important part of our school year. CMS held its awards assembly last week where students were recognized for their accomplishments.
Time to Relax and Celebrate Our Success
CMS field day was full of fun. Students enjoyed the break from academics and celebrated the successful year they have had. Thanks to Coach Turner and Coach Evans for such a fun day!
8A wins the field day championship.
Yearbooks Arrived
CMS students, faculty and staff got a chance to enjoy their new yearbooks on Friday. Mrs. Meyer and the yearbook staff created a great book full of CMS memories of the 2016 - 2017 school year.
Coffee, Tea and Poetry
EES students recently participated in a poetry reading at Berkeley Bob's Coffee House. Our students had an opportunity to share their poetry in this public forum. It was wonderful to see and hear our students read what they had written.
Meet Your Chromebook
EES teachers had a little special training from Mr. Keith George. Mr. George is the Educational Technology Specialist for the Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE). With the numbers of Chromebooks in our system increasing, this professional development for teachers is a great opportunity.
Mr. George will be providing the same training at WES today.
Pack Your Bags
Mrs. Gunter's 6th grade gifted students have been researching and creating informational presentations about wonderful places to travel. Last week the students got to present their travel locations and exciting information about each one to the 5th grades classes. Let's go!
Accelerated Reading Celebration
Our students who met the pre-set Accelerated Reading Goal for the year were rewarded for their reading with a trip to the Cullman Aquatic Center. The weather was absolutely perfect. The students and their teachers had a great time.
All "A Board"!
A new temporary Kindergarten "School Board" filled the board member's seats during a recent walking tour to visit various community helpers nearby. This new board recognized Pod 1 teachers for getting through 179 school days thus far, and voted to approve summer break. However, this board denied a motion to expand ice cream sales to all school days.
Board member Joey Orr took time to talk to the students about the role of a school board member and their service to the community.
Kindergarten and First Grade Choral Concert
Our students performed for a big crowd last week at the Kindergarten and First Grade choral concert. It was wonderful to hear those sweet voices singing a number of great songs.
Head Start Transition Night
Our head start students and their families celebrated Transition Night last week. These students will be transitioning to kindergarten next year and they are ready to go!
