Ever feel like you're living on a different planet?! Especially these days. It's hard to know where reality stops, where fears start, and all the emotions in between. This week, as the academic load ramps up, I want to encourage you to take some time to connect with your child. Like REALLY connect. I'm talking no distractions, eye contact, the good stuff.

Take a quick break from the routine, do something silly or spontaneous, maybe even surprise your child with something out of the ordinary: a drive to the beach, a long walk in nature, camping in the backyard on a school night, a family movie night, eating dinner outside, just anything to spice it up. With all the rigor of school, the numerous Zoom meetings and online expectations, it's important that your child FEELS human connection to you and other family members. If your family is safely enjoying the company of other close relatives or friends, make sure you facilitate play and exercise whenever possible.

You all are doing an outstanding job! Thank you so much for helping your child be successful. We've noticed students showing up to class prepared with the appropriate materials and ready to learn. We appreciate the effort you're making to be waiting in Zoom waiting rooms before class starts. Your children are engaging in quality work and trying their best. We know that doesn't come without support from you, so we thank you for partnering with us during this time.

Please keep in mind that if something isn't working for your child, your teachers are ready to listen and pivot with you as needed. Although we are intentional and strategic in our teaching, we're learning as we go also and we aren't afraid to make changes when needed. Your feedback is valued and appreciated. Thank you for sharing and reinforcing the things that ARE working. It's so nice to hear from you and be mindful of how learning feels on your end.

Have a great rest of your week, Panther families!

From our planet to yours,

Amy

Email Mrs. Fadeji if you’re new to the school or if you're just needing a shoulder to lean on! Also, if you’re a returning Penn Family and are willing to mentor a new family, we would love to facilitate a connection. Thanks in advance for reaching out! afadeji@petk12.org
Did you know there are students on campus during Distance Learning?! There are still spaces available in the YMCA childcare program. The YMCA staff has done an excellent job facilitating Distance Learning, providing outdoor recreation for students, and being respectful of the teaching taking place on campus. If you'd like to find out more or register your child, email childcare@scfymca.org for more info!
