Panther Pause
21 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
10.27.17
Panthers,
What an exciting week at CHHS, as we renew our annual rivalry with our crosstown friends. This week at a high school always has a little more energy and excitement than normal. It feels me with PRIDE as I see our student body rally together toward a common theme; it always demonstrates to me why CHHS is one of the best high schools in the country. This week, we were able to host administrators from around GCISD as we visited classrooms together. I enjoyed hearing their perspectives as they discussed the great learning environments in each rooms. Students were collaborating, designing their own projects, and demonstrating critical thinking and problem solving skills that are so important as they prepare to leave CHHS. Tuesday night, we hosted over 100 college recruiters for our annual College Fair. It was great to hear from these different universities about the CHHS students they have admitted in the past and how much more prepared for college than their peers.
Tonight is the annual meeting of the Red Rail, and it will undoubtedly be a great and chilly evening for all those involved. So, come out and cheer on our Panthers as they take on our crosstown friends. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!!

Student Voice
Define what PRIDE means to you at CHHS.
Pride, to me, means having a strong belief of what it is that I am doing. It is knowing that what I am doing by myself, or with others, is being seen, and it shows the hard work that is being put into it. It can also be knowing that you did your best even if you don't make it to the next round of any challenges or obstacles. That is something that we (the students of CHHS) can be proud of.

CHHS Graduation Requirements
A note from the CHHS nurse
Medications at school! With over 2,000 students in our school, it is a huge task to keep up with all of the students who have medications here. We require permission forms for any medications at school. Emergency Inhalers and Epinephrine auto injectors are the only prescription medications that can be carried at school and a Dr.’s signature on the paperwork is required for students to carry it on their person. This paperwork is also needed for athletes who may leave the medications with the trainers. All prescriptions must have the pharmacy label attached with the student’s name and directions for use.
Other prescription medications are required to be kept in the clinic in a locked cabinet and will be administered in the clinic. Morning doses are to be given at home and later doses will be given at school. Again, a permission form and pharmacy label are required. We are happy to keep a backup dose of medication here for daily morning meds in case they are missed. Dr. signature is required on any controlled medications. We will not administer any non FDA approved medications or supplements.
The great thing we offer at high school that is different than our prior grade levels is the parent driven opportunity for students to carry over the counter (FDA approved) medications with them. We have a short permission slip that is filled out annually where parents can give their student permission to carry their OTC meds. The student also signs this form which spells out the rules to 1. Always keep in original container, 2. Do not share with others, 3. Take only as directed. If you feel your student is mature enough to abide by this, it may save you a trip to school once in a while. We do not provide any
medications to students that they did not bring. These rules help keep our campus a safer place. Medication abuse is very real. Please help us by providing us the right paperwork and information on your student. Also note that the students cars are
on school property when parked in student parking and they are subject to the same rules as what the student has in the school.
Here is the link to the district permission forms needed for medications.
I sincerely appreciate your help in getting this documentation! Faxed and email documents are accepted with Dr. signature (and parent signature) as long as Dr. contact information is provided.
