Frog Pond School Newsletter 4/2018
Volume 17-18 Issue 8
Mr. Troy Henderson, Principal
PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Greetings Frog Pond Families,
Hopefully we have seen the last of the snow for this year and the weather will finally match the calendar. We start the month of April on spring break and will return to school on April 9th. This is a busy month at the Pond, as we are hosting a special open house event featuring Ocean County Prosecutor, Joseph Coronato, who will speak about the dangers of social media, sexting and vaping that are affecting our children and community. Families with children in grades 5 through 9 are welcome to attend. Childcare will be provided, and each adult attending will receive a door prize ticket. Another exciting event this month is our annual Family Reading Night. This event will be held at the Frog Pond School on April 23rd and will run in conjunction with our evening “BOGO” book fair. Join us for wonderful stories, door prizes and a special guest author of our own. PARCC testing begins for students in grades 3 through 6 on April 30th and will run for two weeks. Please be sure your child gets sufficient rest, has a nutritious breakfast, and arrives to school on time during the testing period. This will help to ensure they perform their best.
Until next month, I wish you all a restful and fun spring break. Enjoy your time with friends and family.

“Egg-ceptional” Futures
The students in Mrs. Mason first grade class “egg-ceeded” their teacher’s greatest “egg-pectations”! Each child was given an egg-shaped figure. They were then asked to decorate their egg shaped cutout to illustrate their future career goals. Using a variety of art-and-craft materials from home each child added a face, arms, legs and anything else they believed was necessary to complete the project. If you happen to be in the Frog Pond School, please feel free to stop by and check all the hard work that both the children and parents have done.

MARCH VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
Congratulations Michelle Mottershead!
Mrs. Mottershead has been volunteering in Mrs. Vessecchia's 1st grade classroom for many months. She enjoys working with the children and they eagerly await her visits on Friday afternoons. Michelle enters the classroom and immediately jumps in to assist with any activity or assignment the students are working on. She is an encouraging, supportive resource for our students. We are lucky to have her volunteer in our school!
