WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM DR. DOUCETTE
Hugh Mercer Elementary School
October 18, 2021
Dear Patriot Families,
Welcome to the second quarter of the school year! Our teachers are busy finalizing grades and preparing report cards to go home next week. Please consider scheduling a conference with your child’s teacher to discuss their beginning of year data and academic progress. Conferences will be virtually on TEAMS or ZOOM on October 28. Teachers will also utilize their planning time to connect with families the week after report cards are sent home.
Back to School Night:
Back to School Night will be a drive through parade. Students and their families will drive through this exciting event to wave hello at our Patriot teachers and staff. Your family is encouraged to decorate your vehicle -- or create a sign to say hello!
K-2 Back to School Night - November 3 from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
3-5 Back to School Night - November 4 from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
We look forward to a wonderful second quarter. Thanks for your continued partnership.
Fondly,
Kim Doucette, Principal

COVID INFORMATION
If your child is ill, please don’t send them to school. If they test positive for COVID-19, please call the school at 540-372-1115 and keep them at home. If your child is waiting for test results, please keep them home as well. Please, call the school if someone in your home has tested positive for COVID or if your child has been exposed and keep them at home until you speak with our team.
If your child has to stay home due to quarantine or isolation, please call us. We will be sure your child has work from school, their laptop/ipad, and that they are enrolled in our virtual learning experience “Second Shift Teaching”. A second shift teacher will zoom with your student after-school hours. Let your child’s teacher know if you need more information on Second Shift, if your child must stay home due to COVID-19.
Please, see our divisions protocols here (and on the website)
